While you may only see the final product in our online store or at a retail location, there is a lot that goes on behind the scenes to bring those pieces to life. In this blog post, we wanted to give you a glimpse into the design and production process at Exq Apparel.
First, let's start with the design process. It all begins with inspiration, which can come from anywhere – a trip to a new city, a walk in nature, or even a particularly stylish stranger on the street. Our design team jots down all of their ideas and begins sketching out concepts for new pieces.
Once we have a solid direction for a collection, our designers create detailed technical sketches that include all of the measurements, seams, and details of each garment. These sketches are then sent to our pattern makers, who use them to create physical prototypes of the garments.
The prototypes are then fitted on a fit model to ensure that the garment fits correctly and looks good on a real person. Based on the fit model's feedback, the design team makes any necessary adjustments to the patterns before moving on to the next phase of production.
Now, it's time for production! We work with a network of ethical and sustainable factories around the nation to bring our designs to life. The factories receive the final patterns and technical specifications for each garment, and then they begin the process of cutting the fabric and sewing the pieces together.
Quality is of the utmost importance to us, so we have a team of quality control specialists who inspect each garment as it comes off the production line to ensure that it meets our high standards. Any garments that don't pass inspection are either fixed or discarded, depending on the severity of the issue.
Once the garments have passed quality control and corresponding designs are pressed, they are packaged up and shipped directly to our retail partners or our direct customers - and that's where your story with our garment begins.
