In sporting news: Kcomm is excited to announce that our client, Tryon Medical Partners, has teamed up with OrthoCarolina to serve Official Healthcare Providers of the Carolina Ascent FC, Charlotte’s professional women’s soccer team.

It was a natural fit to team up with orthopedic care leader OrthoCarolina, because like Tryon, this is an independent, award-winning, physician-led practice that serves the Charlotte region with a strong focus on patient-centered care.

The partnership also draws the specialized strengths of both practices. OrthoCarolina physicians will provide orthopedic care for Carolina Ascent players, while Tryon Medical Partners will provide comprehensive primary care and women’s healthcare, and will serve as the team’s nutritionist.

As momentum continues to build for professional women’s sports, Philip Poole, head coach of the Ascent, says that forming the right partnerships in all areas is the key to success: “OrthoCarolina and Tryon Medical Partners have blown us away with their quality, attention to detail, and undoubted ability to correctly manage a professional team. I am delighted to call both true partners in every sense of the word.”

"The best employees aren't always the most typical." To bring this (perhaps surprising) point to life, we collaborated with our client Monarch, a statewide mental and behavioral health services provider, on a new campaign that includes broadcast and streaming spots focusing on employment opportunities for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

At Lenny Boy Brewing Company in Charlotte, we talked with Monarch staff and Lenny Boy owners about the importance of the Supported Employment program, which matches employees and employers in a work relationship that benefits all. Thanks to Lenny Boy, a program participant for several years, for opening their doors for atmospheric filming with the talented crew of Priceless Miscellaneous. And be on the lookout for the Supported Employment campaign, coming soon!

It's an increasingly competitive world for medical practices attempting to recruit the best and brightest physicians. Our creative and media strategy for Tryon Medical Partners includes a series of web videos with award-winning doctors speaking from the heart about the advantages of joining an independent practice.

Dr. Anne Barnard of Tryon's Uptown Charlotte office is among the most eloquent interviewees. Listen as she explains how a physician-led practice equals more automomy, better work-life balance, and most importantly, improved patient care. Go,Team Tryon!

Any industry comes with its fair share of jargon and buzzwords, but far too many are swirling around the world of marketing, advertising and public relations like a pack of pesky gnats. At Kelso Communications, we work hard to avoid the obvious. Words matter to our band of storytellers. And certain words live on our List of Shame, never to be uttered -- at least not with a straight face. Here are a few perennials. Any other words or phrases you'd like to add to our List of Shame? We invite submissions any time. Thank you for keeping our workplace jargon-free! https://kelsocomm.com/our-story/

We're enjoying our work with Beauxwright, a Charlotte-based developer, in creating the name and identity for a mixed-use development on the city's next urban frontier.

Located between two major thoroughfares (East Sugar Creek Road and North Tryon Street), on the site of the former Asian Corner Mall, Sugar Yards is currently in development on the residential side, which will include 119 townhomes by Beauxwright and Toll Brothers, and 67 build-for-rent townhomes by Beauxwright and Copper Builders.

The name Sugar Yards alludes to the rich heritage of the Sugar Creek area, while painting a picture of a modern, progressive residential and mixed-use development.

For the logo, the flow of the cursive “Sugar,” and the angular letters of “Yards,” combine in an arrangement that feels at once modern and vintage. The rich, distinctive red has a background element of steel girders adding a hint of industrial grit and texture.

We're excited to watch this multiphase project come to life. See more of the story and the details here: https://www.beauxwright.com/places/sugar-yards

In a tumultuous year for the residential real estate industry, Kcomm produced a lighthearted, fast-paced web video for Canopy Realtor Association communicating the many levels of benefits members enjoy through their professional affiliation. Speaking to the more than 14,000 members of the association that covers the Charlotte metro region and points west, we provided a fast-paced overview that brings to life the local, state and national benefits that make membership in Canopy an unbeatable value.

Being recognized with marketing awards? Sweet. Sharing the moment with our client? The icing on the cake.

The 51st annual Carolinas Healthcare Public Relations & Marketing Society conference wrapped up three days in beautiful downtown Charleston with a ceremony where Kcomm was honored with multiple awards, including nods for our video series and special event marketing for Tryon Medical Partners and Tryon Women’s Center (featuring the nationally recognized gynecology and sexual health expert Dr. Alyse Kelly-Jones).

We were joined at the conference and ceremony by the multitalented Ryan Shelton, an Internal Medicine doctor who also shines as Tryon’s physician marketing director.

In addition, Kcomm was awarded for our work on a mental health and substance use disorder campaign for another great client, Monarch. Thanks to CHPRMS for hosting a conference where learning, networking and celebrating were given equal shares of the spotlight.
