Yesterday, UVA Today published an article about a new giving campaign in partnership with United Way of Greater Cville that featured our talented friend and client Carrington of Chanterelle Cafe. We’ve had the pleasure of photographing her baked goods, and her adorable family, and were excited to see two of our photos used in the article. 🥐📸😍

If you haven’t tried her amazing vegan treats, you can catch Carrington this Saturday at Farmers Market At Ix and September 13th from 11am to 4pm at Cville Veg Fest.

That’s right, it’s Linford, the eastern box turtle! He joined the Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary education team after being mowed down (quite literally, hence his wonky shell) and illegally kept as a pet for a number of years. We hope he enjoys his time in the spotlight! 📸

P.S. Did you know that prints of some of these animal ambassador portraits will be part of the silent auction at Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary’s October 2nd soirée and fundraiser? All proceeds go to caring for these patients and more! 🎉❤️

It’s time again for Turtle Tuesday! 🐢♥️✨ Wait, no it’s not... it’s actually Tortoise Tuesday! Can you identify this education ambassador from Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary? (We hear he’s the boss around those parts.)

Yes indeed, it’s Bruce the Russian tortoise! As the name of his species suggests, he is definitely not a Virginia native, so when he was found wandering the streets of Charlottesville (not the streets of Philadelphia) a kind citizen brought him to RWS where he’s lived the good life ever since.

We loved meeting Bruce and taking his portrait, so we hope you enjoy this up-close look. 📸

Whoops, we missed Turtle Tuesday, so how about Weptile Wednesday? 🐢🤣 Can you identify this Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary education ambassador animal? (Hint, Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary posted some very gossip-worthy pictures of her last week.) Since she’s not jumbo (another hint), there wasn’t enough of her to take up three scroll-worthy frames, so you’ll have to be quick with your guesses.

That’s right, it’s Gumbo the eastern mud turtle! Found in a bag of crawfish shipped from Louisiana to a Virginia restaurant (🫢), this cajun cutie is now a permanent resident and education ambassador. Photographing such a teeny subject was challenging, but we hope you enjoy seeing Gumbo is such sharp detail with help from hand model Sarah. 🫱✨

We were honored to photograph the new Command™ DÉCOR Collection ahead of its release, so we’re excited to share some images from one of the scenes we captured. Collaborating with talented prop stylist Annie Drury and hand model carlee huffman brought these elegant products to life. Since they come in several colors, this is just the first scene we’re sharing, so stay tuned for more! And be sure to swipe to the end for a behind-the-scenes look.

It’s Marsupial Monday! We thought it would be pretty pointless to make this post a guessing game like Turtle Tuesday since there’s only one species of native marsupial in North America (the Virginia opossum). Here’s a lady who needs no introduction... Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary education ambassador Fiona! 🥰

We already knew Fiona from RWS presentations and events we’d attended, but this photoshoot was a great chance to see her up close. We’re sure she loved striking a pose, but as you can see from the photos, kibble was her real motivation. 😋

One of the most exciting moments in my career as a commercial photographer occurred earlier this week. Erin and I stepped into one of the country’s largest retailers, ran to aisle E33, and looked for a couple of my product photographs in use. It’s a moment I’ve been looking forward to since November of last year when we were hired by 3M’s Command™ Brand to photograph prototypes of this new line of products. I can’t wait to share more of the photos soon, but here are a few from in-store!
