Rare day behind the camera.

I don’t spend much time filming anymore—not because I don’t enjoy it, but because my focus has shifted.

Today, my job is helping companies grow with creative that performs.

The camera is just one part of the process.

The real value comes from the strategy behind it:

• The messaging.
• The offer.
• The testing.
• The optimization.
• The scaling.

Great content isn’t measured by views.

It’s measured by the business it creates.

A good ad does three things:
1. Grabs your attention
2. Creates Desire
3. Removes doubt

If you can’t grab someone’s attention, nothing else in the ad matters because the viewer already tuned out or swiped away.

Generating desire comes from either targeting something the viewer wants (ex. “This process helped (x) generate an extra $10,000 last month”) or a solution to a problem they are having (“This clears your skin in 2 weeks without harsh chemicals.”)

And removing doubt by providing proof or evidence that your claims are actually true. Providing case studies, before and after examples, data, testimonials. The viewer doesn’t just need to hear “this could work for you”, but they need to SEE for themselves that it’s already worked for others and it can work for them as well.

If you can’t nail all three of these effectively in your ads, the likelihood of them performing the way they could be is pretty slim.

A good ad does three things:
1. Grabs your attention
2. Creates Desire
3. Removes doubt

If you can't grab someone's attention, nothing else in the ad matters because the viewer already tuned out or swiped away.

Generating desire comes from either targeting something the viewer wants (ex. "This process helped (x) generate an extra $10,000 last month") or a solution to a problem they are having ("This clears your skin in 2 weeks without harsh chemicals.")

And removing doubt by providing proof or evidence that your claims are actually true. Providing case studies, before and after examples, data, testimonials. The viewer doesn't just need to hear "this could work for you", but they need to SEE for themselves that it's already worked for others and it can work for them as well.

Your video ads look good.
They’re cinematic. A lot of money was spent on them. And none of that matters.

I see this constantly.
Teams assume an ad is good because it looks polished, or because it was expensive, or because everyone internally agreed it was “on brand.”

But the structure is off.
The hook doesn’t earn attention.
The message isn’t sequenced correctly.
The psychology is wrong.

So when the ad goes live, performance drops almost immediately.
And when that happens, nothing useful follows.

People talk about “iteration,” but you can’t iterate your way out of a weak foundation.
If the core structure is wrong, there’s nothing to optimize.

You can polish it.
You can re-edit it.
You can swap a few shots.
But you’re still working with a bad ad.

A good ad starts strong because it’s engineered to.
The opening earns the first few seconds.
The message builds in the right order.
Every part exists for a reason.

When that foundation is solid, performance doesn’t rely on luck.
It compounds.

Most brands don’t actually have a video problem.
They have an ad structure problem.
And until that’s solved, better cameras, bigger budgets, and prettier edits won’t fix anything.
