We are proud to introduce:

Coach Stephen B Speirs Jr
Coach Speirs has been involved in the sport of field hockey for over fifteen years, and he has coached players at all levels from beginner to advance. His experience includes over ten years as a field hockey youth recreational coach, eight consecutive years as the head varsity coach for a local New Jersey high school. In 2013 Coach Speirs was recognized as the All-Area Express-Times & All North Jersey Field Hockey Coach of the Year. In 2015 Coach Speirs was recognized once again as the Field Hockey Coach of the Year by the NJ Herald. In addition to his successful high school coaching career, Coach Speirs has promoted the game of field hockey as a certified USAFHA Coach/Member and a USAFHA Futures assistant coach. Coach Speirs was also a member of the National Field Hockey Association during the time he coached and played field hockey at Centenary College. Coach Speirs continues to coach high school varsity field hockey during the summer and fall season. Coach Speirs is the Warren/Hunterdon County representative for the North Jersey Field Hockey Coaches Association (NJFHCA), representing recognition for all high school field hockey teams, players, coaches for this area of New Jersey. Coach Speirs is also the owner, manager, and head instructor of USAFHA club/travel team “Cosmic Storm”.

Cris has been an intricate part of playing, umpiring and general expansion of the game over the years. His book Field Hockey: Understanding the Game is a very well received book. American Field Hockey Magazine is happy to have Lauren Penny as a contributing editor: Lauren Penny is a former International Field Hockey Player, Performance Coach & Founder of the Hockey Performance Academy, which is a virtual platform designed to help hockey players improve their confidence, get fit for hockey and perform more consistently so that they get noticed to play at a higher level. With over 10 years experience, the best results she's seen with her clients have come from helping players and coaches develop their mental game, a huge part of the sport that is often overlooked. Lauren is a former member of the South African National Team.
