I’ve probably captured the Glass House Apartments a dozen times in my career. But these recent images came out nicely.
860–880 Lake Shore Drive consists of two iconic glass-and-steel apartment towers located on N. Lake Shore Drive in the Streeterville neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, overlooking Lake Michigan. Designed by Mies van der Rohe, these 26-story tall structures were constructed between 1949 and 1951.
Their innovative design became a hallmark of the modern International Style and played a significant role in shaping the evolution of modern high-tech architecture. Recognized for their architectural significance, the towers were added to the National Register of Historic Places on August 28, 1980, and designated as Chicago Landmarks on June 10, 1996.
