What if instead of a paintbrush and palette, Rembrandt had stock photos and Creative Cloud?

There are some really elegant cartographical depictions in this article. They will make you look at the world a bit differently the next time you are burying your feet in the sand.

In a society full of commercialized colors, CMYK and Pantone books, we have become very disassociated with the sources of color that fill our world. But, it is extremely interesting to think about.

The most unusual colors from Harvard's storied pigment library include beetle extracts, poisonous metals, and human mummies.

Check out the great work done for "Roll to the Wedding"! You can view this and other work done by David Starke at http://www.etwosix.com.

Dave and his wife Ashley celebrated their nuptials with a two day wedding in September 2013 that was inspired by the words and drawings of Shel Silverstein's The Missing Piece Meets the Big O. This book shares a special place in their hearts and relationship. Both felt that the lessons learned would be truly fitting for their big day.

The work created for the Roll to the Wedding theme was all encompassing: a logo, save the date cards that introduced the theme, formal invitations, the Roll to the Wedding website, programs featuring a personality trait next to each bridal party member’s "O", themed signage and wedding favors that represented both of our homes (maple syrup and Chicago Bears molded chocolates). The most prized piece of this collection is a book authored and designed by David, Two Os Roll Along. This sequel inspired by Silverstein's original was apart of his gift to Ashley on their wedding day.

David states: “The toughest critic of our work can be none other than ourselves. Wanting each little detail to be perfect made this one of the toughest projects I've ever worked on. I struggled finding a direction for our wedding that resonated with who Ashley and I are as a couple as well as individuals. I didn't find success until I turned to Silverstien's work for inspiration. With that, the elegant logo of two Os rolling down the aisle was born. Acting as my muse and receptive ear, Ashley helped me fully realize the work in this collection. It ultimately culminated into a beautiful wedding and a body of work that I'm most proud of.”

As a designer, I'm always intrigued with how technology plays a role in the ways we communicate with our audience. Whether it means we broadcast into a consumer's home on a radio or TV rather than deliver a daily newspaper, advertise on a mobile phone rather than a stationary computer or we use trends to tell a consumer what they want before they know what they want, technology plays a defining role in how we communicate with an audience. This article made me ponder, what is next and how might our creativity utilize those new technologies?
