As a Professional EOS Implementerยฎ with EOS Worldwide, I talk a lot about getting to the bottom of issues โ seeing and solving the ๐ซ๐๐๐ฅ root causes of problems. Not just their symptoms. I talk about natural and predictable revolution and evolution, personally and professionally. And that itโs a constant in business. Not if, but when.
The Entrepreneurial Operating Systemยฎ demands open, honest and vulnerable communication. It requires entering the danger when it comes to recognizing โelephants in the roomโ and solving issues forever โ not just temporarily โ for the greater good of the business.
I constantly remind my clients (and myself) that we canโt skip these steps on the path to growth and success. If you donโt first identify problems correctlyโif you donโt dig and dig until you get past the symptoms and down to the real causes, and name themโthen you canโt discuss the right things or solve anything of substance. The same issues will continue to resurface, in various forms, over and over again.
Case in point: The murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, Rayshard Brooks and far too many others by police donโt reflect a โnewโ issue in any one city, the U.S. or the world. The videos of these murders didnโt spark outrage that wasnโt already there. They cast a spotlight on the most unwieldy and rotten โ but ignored โ roots of our society and reignited an existing movement. Why? Because weโve consistently failed to address pervasive injustices and systemic inequities that lie at the roots of racist thought and action.

These kinds of questions lie at the root of critical issues and must be discussed and solved. We all need to dig deeper, educate ourselves and reflect on our roles and responsibilities. But most importantly, we all need to take swift action.
โก๏ธ Which is why as a first action step, Iโm joining forces with my local colleagues to offer a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion learning series SOON AVAILABLE to my EOS clients. The more open, honest and vulnerable, the better. Let me know if youโre interested in participating. โฌ

While I donโt have all the answers, I do know this: I have the privilege and responsibility to act as an entrepreneurial leader who helps expose real root issues โ including my own โ in the EOS session room, my city and anywhere else I can produce positive change and universal growth. The good news is that if thereโs one thing entrepreneurs do best, itโs innovate. We can go fast and fill in gaps where theyโre desperately needed. And we can be change-makers at any stage and any age.
Biases are all around us. We must strengthen who we are at the core by addressing injustice at the root. While Iโve been acutely aware of my female and le***an identity in our society, I have only just begun to understand just how much my whiteness affects me and the people around me.
Itโs time for all of us to dig into OUR roots. Discuss OUR issues openly, with honesty and vulnerability. And solve them now and forever, for the greater good.
Itโs time for true leadership. And itโs time for change.
