Our Branding project with Bread & Salt: inspired by their mission to root digital commerce in a sense of place; guided by the theme "a city in a store," we infused urban elements into our design. This approach involved selecting a color palette that reflects the diverse textures of a cityscape—concrete, foliage, brick, and street surfaces—thereby embedding a metropolitan essence into the branding. Additionally, we incorporated aspects of their unique name: the representation of a loaf of bread, and a stylized, microscopic view of a salt crystal. These elements were seamlessly integrated into both the iconography and typography, ensuring a solid and cohesive brand identity.

🏢 Introducing "Off The Nine" – a living building in the heart of Auburn Gresham!

First-ever, Chicago Pritzker Traubert Foundation Winner, Auburn Gresham, was awarded 10 million for its “Always Growing, Auburn Gresham” plan. The new grant will support projects that spur economic development and improve well-being and safety on Chicago’s South Side. With our comprehensive business plan, we secured the grant, paving the way for the project's realization.

Our goal was to create a “living building” that would be the heart of Auburn Gresham. As the market and food hall will be the heart, Auburn Gresham will be the beating pulse, pushing life back into the space while creating a platform for expression, art and community. The people of Auburn Gresham will give it life and the market will merely be an opportunity for growth to bring about positive change to the neighborhood.

The concept & the name - “Off The Nine” comes from everyone in the community affectionately referring to 79th street corridor as “The 9”. The name comes from its location being off the main intersection, and it’s direct connection to the residents of the neighborhood. THE 9 ICON is used in reference to “nine” in off the nine. The symbol that is combined with the number is derived from the adinkra symbol “think ahead.”It means aim high and think ahead, symbolizing forethought, planning and setting goals. We chose this symbol as a form of expression to incorporate in the branding, as the goal of this project is to bring about positive change within the community of Auburn Gresham.

1️⃣ Origin Story: The vanderHulsts, a 5th generation family from the Netherlands with deep-rooted farming heritage, came to us seeking a brand identity that embodied their premium products and rich lineage.
2️⃣ Name Game: We landed on "Vander Farmers", seamlessly blending their esteemed family name, vanderHulsts, with their farming legacy. Remember, a brand's name should mirror the client's identity, values, and aspirations.
3️⃣ Our Challenge: We created a branding range from bold, elegant/classic to contemporary, giving the client three logo options within the same branding concept.
4️⃣ Final Choice: Embracing grace and timelessness, the Vander Farmers selected the elegant logo design. An emblem now synonymous with sophistication and family heritage.
