FINALLY—Some good news for Creatives!
The companies winning with AI aren't replacing creative people—they're making them more valuable.
One statistic from this article stopped me in my tracks, and I hope it's true.
According to Gartner, 50% of companies that reduced headcount because of AI are expected to rehire people into similar roles by 2027.
To me, that signals something important.
It suggests that many organizations are beginning to realize AI isn't a replacement for experienced creatives—it's a force multiplier. It can accelerate parts of the process, but it still takes people to ask the right questions, recognize the right solution, and make thoughtful creative decisions.
I think that creates a real opportunity.
There may never have been a better time to combine what you've spent years learning with the tools that are shaping where our industry is headed. That is not something you can learn on YouTube, LinkedIn Learning, or in college. This is REAL industry experience that will hopefully shape the next wave of industry trends.
So now is the time to lean into what YOUR experience brings: strategy, creativity, empathy, judgment, color, composition, storytelling, and all the little things that make design resonate with another human being.
At the same time, stay curious.
Every new tool has felt a little intimidating at first. Then it became part of the process.
As creatives, we've always adapted. I think that's part of our grit... our moxie.
We jump into the sandbox and play.
• Get our hands dirty.
• Break something.
• Build something.
• See what happens.
That's how we grow.
This feels no different.
And if you're looking for your next opportunity, don't overlook the people you've worked with before. Reach out to former coworkers, clients, and managers. Some of the best opportunities come from relationships you've already built.
Technology will keep changing.
Curiosity, great ideas, sound judgment, and strong relationships never go out of style.
What have you discovered lately by simply playing in the sandbox?
