Inspirational? Absolutely. Insane? Also yes, because despite his stats, he’s barely getting any college scholarship offers (of course playing lesser competition is a factor, but it would be a travesty for him to not get more offers)
It made me think: if this were 30 years ago, before social media, would he have any offers at all? Probably not.
That’s the power of social media. It gives athletes control like never before. Back then, high school players relied on local TV, radio, and newspapers—and maybe a scout showing up in person if they were lucky. Today, scouts can watch highlights anytime, anywhere, without the cost or effort of traveling.
Social media lets you build your brand and, if it goes viral, forces the big media outlets to cover you or risk looking out of touch. For athletes like this, that visibility can mean more opportunities than ever before, including college offers that might never have come without it. And don't get me started on how this can lead to brand deals later on...
