DETAILS
The Copy Editor is responsible for the coordination, development, and review of all written content produced by the Watts Content team. They will improve formatting, style, tone of voice, accuracy, and brand alignment to ensure each piece of content is easily digestible and free of errors.
The right candidate will have experience in developing and optimizing text-based content for multiple platforms, including blogs, press releases, white papers, product landing pages, service landing pages, social media marketing, and search marketing.
This key team member is a copywriter at heart and systematizer by passion. They have the ability to optimize systems, organize content, meet deadlines, and manage content production timelines that support strategic objectives for multiple brands.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• 75% Remote with training and weekly meetings for this writing job in Colorado Springs will be held Downtown so reliable transportation is necessary
• Be highly organized with your work and help develop a systematic approach to completing tasks with the guidance of your team
• Develop, maintain, and own the style guides of each brand to maintain consistency by upholding the tense, voice, tone, and spelling/capitalization of certain words unique to each brand
• Organize, follow, and be accountable for editorial calendars of multiple brands
• Assist in ideation, planning, and ex*****on of the content marketing calendars for multiple brands
• Gather, organize, and verify factual data for provided topics in various industries from credible online sources and via primary research developed through scheduling and conducting interviews
• Write articles on provided topics in a captivating way for the audience adhering to an outline developed with the SEO team and the prescribed brand guidelines regarding editorial style and formatting
• Create body copy, engaging headlines and subheadings, proofreading, and comprehensive editing for spelling, grammar, and brand consistency
• Ensure readability of content by identifying and correcting grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors
• Check accuracy of facts, dates, names, captions, statistics, sources, etc. located in all content
• Review all assignments before publishing to ensure content is accurate and on-brand
• Tracking and documenting your work in project management software
• Successful management of Watts Media’s blog to further organizational goals, including the writing, scheduling, publication, and overall consistency of Watts Media’s content assets
ABILITIES & SKILLS
• Proven editorial skills including strong language skills, English, writing, composition, spelling, grammar, and proper source citations in MLA and APA format
• Coachable and collaborative with the SEO team, including campaign managers, clients, and web publishers
• Using Google Suite products: Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, and Google Drive
• Organize an editing and writing schedule to complete drafts and finish projects with tight deadlines
• Work on multiple projects with different objectives simultaneously
• Have great written communication and be highly responsive during working hours
• Efficiently synthesize, understand, consolidate, and communicate new information to various audiences
• Work well with computers, the internet and learn new technology systems in a timely manner
• The grit to sit and focus on one task at a time independently with little or no daily supervision
• Good interpersonal skills and willingness to communicate with clients, colleagues, and management
• Typing quickly and accurately
• Create content within and troubleshoot issues with the WordPress platform
• Pass a background check and Colorado drug test

Compensation and Benefits
Part-Time: 15 - 30 hours per week
$15 - $25 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
