The Long Way Home Photography

I can go into a session with a pretty specific vision of what I want it to look and feel like.

I know the kind of light I want. I know where I want you to stand. I know what I’m looking for and I can usually get pretty close to the picture I had in my head.

But then you show up and ruin my plans.

And I mean that in the best possible way.

Because ultimately, the person in front of my camera is going to determine what the session becomes.

You can style the whole thing perfectly, but I can’t style the way you laugh. I can’t manufacture the way your kids look at you. I can’t plan the little things you do together that make your family yours.

Who you are is going to come through.

Every time. 💛

Our very first mini session at the greenhouse! These took about 15 minutes. In and out. Sessions don't have to take forever to be great!

Six girls, two parents, and one sweet old dog. I’ve been lucky enough to photograph this family almost every year, and it’s been amazing to watch them grow together. This session was wild, messy, full of laughter and fun, just like life on a little dream-farm slice of heaven with a bunch of kids should be.

We took these headlight photos way after blue hour. They’re technically imperfect, but honestly, they might be some of my favorites from this session. The baby photographer in me would’ve panicked when they didn’t come out perfectly clear, but the photographer I am now knows it’s the story that matters more than the technical stuff.
