The groundhog has spoken and it’s official…
Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow and we’re in for six more weeks of winter ❄️🌨☃️
In honor of the holiday, every year I try to watch ‘Groundhog Day’ - a fav 90s Bill Murray movie where he plays a weather reporter sent to cover the groundhog’s prediction and then wakes up to find he’s reliving the same day over and over and over in Punxsutawney, PA.
It always makes me think - if I had a redo - what things might I want to change in my business if I could?
For starters, to stop worrying about creating the perfect post or content to share. I’d get caught up in the spiral of having a great idea, then feeling like ‘why does anyone care what I have to say’ and then abandoning it completely & not taking action at all. I’ve started to adopt the mantra ‘done is better than perfect’ and am trying to implement it within my biz. It has been very freeing to lose the illusion of ‘perfect’ and just get things out into the world.
To share my work, even when it’s scary. I can’t speak for all creatives, but for me it’s that I naturally feel close to my work and form a sort of emotional attachment. This can make it feel terrifying to put it out there for others to see. I’ve realized I can’t fear potential criticism because if I’ve created something, it deserves to be seen.
To honor boundaries and prioritize overall well-being, mental and physical. I know I am not at my best when I’m feeling overly anxious or stressed and that it really stifles my creativity. (And let’s face it - if the last couple years have taught us anything it’s that we’re resilient and learn to adapt). Let’s normalize being able to take a pause and reset when we’re not feeling our best selves to practice proper self care in whatever way honors our needs.
If you had to relive the same day over in your business, what might you do differently?
