The groundhog has spoken and it’s official…
Punxsutawney Phil has seen his shadow and we’re in for six more weeks of winter ❄️🌨☃️
In honor of the holiday, every year I try to watch ‘Groundhog Day’ - a fav 90s Bill Murray movie where he plays a weather reporter sent to cover the groundhog’s prediction and then wakes up to find he’s reliving the same day over and over and over in Punxsutawney, PA.
It always makes me think - if I had a redo - what things might I want to change in my business if I could?
For starters, to stop worrying about creating the perfect post or content to share. I’d get caught up in the spiral of having a great idea, then feeling like ‘why does anyone care what I have to say’ and then abandoning it completely & not taking action at all. I’ve started to adopt the mantra ‘done is better than perfect’ and am trying to implement it within my biz. It has been very freeing to lose the illusion of ‘perfect’ and just get things out into the world.
To share my work, even when it’s scary. I can’t speak for all creatives, but for me it’s that I naturally feel close to my work and form a sort of emotional attachment. This can make it feel terrifying to put it out there for others to see. I’ve realized I can’t fear potential criticism because if I’ve created something, it deserves to be seen.
To honor boundaries and prioritize overall well-being, mental and physical. I know I am not at my best when I’m feeling overly anxious or stressed and that it really stifles my creativity. (And let’s face it - if the last couple years have taught us anything it’s that we’re resilient and learn to adapt). Let’s normalize being able to take a pause and reset when we’re not feeling our best selves to practice proper self care in whatever way honors our needs.
If you had to relive the same day over in your business, what might you do differently?

Happy happy anniversary week to the most beautiful couple!! The bride and groom’s love story began at where they met through mutual friends. Fun fact - they both competed in Div I athletics during their time there - the bride in track & field and the groom in football. We had so much fun getting to know them and creating this airy and elegant invitation suite for their summer wedding.
The design details for this suite were thoughtfully chosen and infused throughout to represent the couple and their celebration. We went with a clean & classic design for the invitations and coordinating cards. A romantic flower on its own - the rose - was a custom illustrated element we used to play off of the bride’s middle name and what was planned as the main floral motif.
For a fun pop of color and to match with the bridesmaid dresses 👗, we chose envelopes with a classic euro flap in a summery mint green. We tied everything together by placing the invitation and RSVP card in a formal grey pocket with floral laser cut-out detail. The assembled invitations were then individually addressed in black archival ink and finished with a floral Love stamp by the USPS.
Envelope: A7.5 with Euro Flap - Park Green

Pocket: Floral Laser Panel Pocket - Real Grey

Invitation: 5x7 Flat - 14pt uncoated stock

RSVP & Details Card: 4.125x5.875 - 14pt uncoated stock

“To design is to communicate clearly by whatever means you can control or master.”
- Milton Glaser RIP 1929-2020

Creator of the iconic ‘I ❤️ NY’ logo, Glaser passed at the age of 91 last week. He was an influential designer & artist who recognized the most important job of graphic design is to communicate.

Weekend countdown is on - sending some fun Friday vibes your way! 👉 🎶 ⏰
So...my playlists are definitely all over the place with different artists or songs I’m into at the moment. I like to have music (and sometimes - yes, I do love me some Science Friday 🤓) playing in the background while I work on projects. It’s still crazy to me that I’m able to have almost infinite music and content available at my fingertips through streaming services and online radio. I’m probably dating myself, but I still remember my giant CD binder I used to lug around 😂
What are you listening to these days?

Starting the day with a little latte love ☕️ 💙
The first thing I like to do before starting any work is to sit down for maybe 10-15 minutes and go over my schedule for the day. I sit down with my iPad and coffee while I list and prioritize top items that need to be finished. Then I move other items around that I have more flexibility with for later in the week.
I try and be as realistic as possible with how much I can actually accomplish during work hours, and use this time to get into a relaxed and focused mindset. And let’s be real, as a with a toddler kiddo, I need all the delicious espresso I can get! 😂
This simple routine makes me feel ready to crush my seemingly endless to-do list and gets me over the overwhelm. What morning routines do you follow to get in a positive mindset and prep for the day?

Whenever I need a little kickstart for inspiration for a project I sometimes thumb through a design book or two to get the gears turning. It makes me feel energized and ready to click File > New. Who else is a typography nerd? 👋🤓🔡
