I don't like virtue signaling posts, and that's not the intent of this one. It's Memorial Day, and beyond the speeches and posts is the reality of what the day represents. In short, it involves remembering those who lost their lives serving this country.
For me, the day is personal in that I lost my best friend many years ago while he was serving in the Navy. I remember him every year whatever the chaos and distractions might be in my life. He was a great guy... loyal, smart, and committed.
Here's respect to those who lost loved ones, however they might have served. Here's respect to those who served too. Remembering my friend is the best way I can honor him these many years later.
