Trello - project management + communication for clients

Later - automate + schedule social media posts

Canva - for “on the fly” infographics + templates

Notion - *similar to Trello* but I use for writing content

Qwilr- proposals, invoices

Here’s the thing. We’ve been taught our whole lives that we have to look and act like the “men in suits” to be successful. 🕴But the thing is, that’s a BOLD. FACED. LIE.

Think about the people you LOVE working with. For me, those people are relatable, collaborative, like their job, are inspired, etc…Very rarely do I love working with someone who is too rigid or transactional. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Nothing against most “men-in-suit types,” but I’ve been more successful and earned more $ as myself (a quirky, connector-type creative wearing a beanie and band-tee) than trying to impress anyone in a buttoned-up act. 👩‍🎨👨‍🎤

Just a reminder to anyone that’s trying to fit into the mold of what they think they *should* be, that “should” is a lie. 👊🏼

F R I D A Y we made it 🙌

It has been SUCH a full work week of deadlines, project wraps, and amazing client meetings. 👯‍♀️I’ve loved every minute but I’m extra excited for this weekend. 💤

In my early days of marketing, I was SO guilty of this. 🙈

But hey, it can be tough to not get into the “salesy rhythm” especially when selling products vs. services. 🤦🏼‍♀️ You start to wonder “what else can I post other than the product I’m selling?” 🙇‍♀️

✨Then I discovered the 80/20 rule.✨
I’ll let you in on the secret. 🤫

It states that:

👉🏼 80% of your content should be educating, entertaining, or bringing a solution to your audience (also throw personal BTS in this bucket).

👉🏼20% of your content should be explicitly selling your product or service.

Think about it as a consumer. I’d WAY rather follow + engage with someone who is giving me advice, fun antidotes, and entertaining BTS vs. asking something of me every time I see their post.. right??

A Monday reminder that showing up imperfectly is way better than ghosting your community! ☺️

For the sake of transparency, I’ll have you know I’m WAY behind on batching my own content rn. 😬 I’m posting in-the-moment + not at the optimal times with recycled images (or make-shifted photoshopped pics of me over stock images 🤷🏼‍♀️- you decide what this one is lol), because I’m knee deep in important client work. 👩‍💻

As a recovering perfectionist, it’s REALLY hard for me to show up feeling like my imagery, timing, copy, branding is 💯 but guess what…

Ironically, that’s when people reach out to me the most to help with their business. Now, could that be a coincidence? Absolutely. However, I like to think it’s because they realize I’m also a human - someone they can connect with, brainstorm with and work with - not because I’m an automated marketing machine. 🧠

So here’s your permission to be imperfect and keep moving forward! ☕️

it’s becoming a pet-peeve that burn-out Is becoming a “badge-of-honor.” 🙈

Idk about you, but I’d much rather set healthy boundaries, take care of my mental, physical, and emotional health while working. 🙂

I’d rather get 7+ hours of sleep and take a 10 minute break, enabling me to make sound decisions for my clients, rather than giving them a half-awake, stressed Lauren that will not be as productive or proactive. 🤷🏼‍♀️

I’m working hard and continually growing and pushing myself, but I’m not sacrificing myself in the process and I love that journey for me. 🥰

My Sister-in-Law asked me how my digital marketing course was going + I realized I never told anyone I graduated last December 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

I guess that’s what happens when you’re going too fast…you forget to celebrate the mini-milestones and achievements along the way.

So here I am, CELEBRATING 🥳 graduating from University California, Irvine Digital Marketing Bootcamp. ✨

I learned so much and connected with so many cool cats along the way - many of which I’ve been able to collaborate and work with since. 👯‍♀️
