On August 27, 2025, I sat down with my friend Mr. Ed Doyle to talk about a new project he had on his heart. That day, he walked me behind the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region (Covington) and showed me an old, rundown building. To most people, it probably looked forgotten and worn out. But as he shared his vision, I began to see it differently. What stood before us wasn’t just an aging structure—it was a blank canvas full of endless possibilities.
I remember feeling both excited and completely overwhelmed at the same time. The idea of helping bring this dream to life felt big—bigger than anything I had ever taken on before. Yet deep down, I felt a sense of peace and assurance. I knew God’s hands were all over this from the very beginning. All I had to do was trust Him, take each step in faith, and allow Him to guide the way.
Over the months that followed, what once seemed like an impossible vision slowly began to take shape. There were challenges, long days, and moments when the finish line felt far away—but there were also countless blessings, helping hands, and reminders that this project was never ours alone. It belonged to something much bigger than us.
Then came Friday, February 6, 2026—the day we had been working toward. Grand Opening day. And what a day it was. The building that once sat quietly behind the Boys & Girls Club was now filled to the brim with life, laughter, and people from every corner of Tipton County. The energy in the room was incredible. Seeing the space alive with community, connection, and purpose made every moment of the journey worth it.
Ed took time to recognize the many people who helped bring the dream to life, making sure each person knew how important they were to the story. When he called my name, the crowd erupted in applause. In that moment, I wanted nothing more than to crawl under the table and hide. Instead, I stood up, humbled and grateful, and simply said, “Thank you.”
And in my heart, I was thanking God most of all—for the journey, the people, the lessons, and the beautiful reminder of what can happen when faith meets community and a dream is placed in the right hands.
Here are a few before-and-afters I took along the way.
