It’s a challenging time of year to try and decide what to pursue with my time. Tree stand bow hunting for deer? Collecting watercress and other greens before the frosts come? Take the .22 into the squirrel woods? Today, I’m content that I made the right call to gather wild mushrooms. Hen-of-the-woods, resinous polypore, oysters, sulfur shelf, and even a few late-blooming chanterelles made for a wonderful venison cacciatore dinner.
