πŸ€” I haven't seen many content writers talk about this, but it needs to be said. One newbie mistake to avoid is writing the way you speak. πŸ—£οΈ When I started my journey as a content writer, I heard this advice all the time. But to me, it's like telling someone afraid of public speaking to imagine the audience naked. 🫣 It's a common phrase that can often leave content creators confused as to what it actually means and ends up not actually helping.

But here's the thing... drumroll please for the light bulb moment πŸ₯

πŸ’‘ I discovered that my audience listens better when they feel heard. The quickest way to do that is by mirroring what they have to say. πŸ™Œ

🌟 Don't stress about finding the perfect words to connect with your ideal client today. Relax and trust that your message will reach the right people at the right time.

πŸ”‘ For me, it's all about creating content from a place of genuine desire to help my ideal client and build trust, comfort, and connection. Even when I don't see immediate results, I know I'm building a foundation for my audience to come to me on their own timeline.

⏰ Marketing your small business can feel overwhelming, but remember that consistent effort over time yields results. Keep going, and success will come!

Shedding light on what I do every day to balance & just HOW I do it.

πŸŒ„ I start my morning at least 30 minutes before my kids wake up. This allows me to begin the day PRO-actively instead of RE-actively. I look over my tasks for the day and prioritize just three things for the day.

πŸ’» I practice singular focus while working. Using Do Not Disturb settings on my phone and MacBook, plus an app that grows a tree for every 25 minutes I stay focused and don't open other apps, I can keep my blinders, on-which allows me to be more efficient and productive during my work hours.

πŸ€“ I don't hide my work from my kids, but I do respect our time together. My kids have all seen me work on the weekend (I did it just yesterday, actually!), but if I need to respond to a client's work during a time that I wasn't planning, I ask their permission to step away and make sure they know how long I'm planning to refrain from family time or activities.

🀍 I have sacred family time. Each week we do a Friday family movie complete with popcorn and candy. The kids know they can count on this time together as a family, and look forward to sharing new movies or old favorites together. We also do regular game battles with both board games and video games. During these and our meal times together, there are no electronics. With a preschooler, 7 year old and tween, the conversation isn't always easy-but it is important to both my husband and I to have these moments together where our kids see us focused on each other and not on technology.

When I stick to my plan, I feel a lot less overwhelmed by juggling and and pumped to tackle both and finally have more time for the things I love. Which part would you try?

🀍 Your brand voice is simply how you talk to your audience. Just like how you talk to friends and family though, your brand voice should be clear. Your audience should know how you speak and be able to recognize when something is off.

Like when a friend knows a story is untrue because you "would never say that," your voice should be clear enough that your audience can say the same.

🀍 If you call your followers something specific, use certain emojis as punctuation, or can never leave an exclamation mark without a few friends, then your brand definitely has its own vocabulary.

🀍 Your brand should have a story. Where you came from and why you started-this will help you uncover what you stand for and how you show up for those things.

🀍 Your brand's point of view will only be uncovered once you know your why. This means that if you are passionate about supporting women in business, your audience knows that you'll show up there. If something happens in the news related to those causes, they know you'll have something to say about it, and your audience will be ready to hear what it is.

🀍 Turn up the volume, or turn down the volume. If your brand is passionate about eco-friendly products, you can turn up the volume when you discuss those. If you refuse to tolerate bullies, you may quietly ask trolls to take their comments elsewhere.
