What about those DIY "site builders"?

The biggest difference is the do it yourself sites aren't portable. If you build on Wix using their builder, you are stuck with Wix. If you want to switch hosts you can't. You are also stuck with the features they have available, and I have yet to see one that allows you to get into the code to tweak things that make a difference in SEO.

I build on WordPress.

It's moveable, so any investment in time creating is not lost if you ever want to move to a different host. There are a dozen reasons why you might want to change hosts.

WordPress has been around for a long time. There are thousands of themes and plugins available to customize just about anything you could want. It also lets me get into the code to do customizations if I need to.

I also can control all the little things that make a difference in SEO. Which is essential if you want your page to rank in Google searches.

Responsive Design

Approximately eighty percent of new browsers are on mobile devices. It is a requirement now that your website have a responsive design, which means it morphs to fit the screen size it's displayed on.

Your website should look good, be readable, and be user friendly, on a desktop, a tablet, and a cell phone.

Additionally, Google is now using responsive design as a ranking criteria. If your site isn't responsive it will hurt your search ranking.

Professional Email

If you want your business to be taken seriously online, you must have email addresses at your domain. Email addresses with , , (yikes!), , , , etc. send a loud message that you are not a professional.

Domains are very cheap and so are email plans. If you need help getting set up, call me.

What is "Collaborative Design"?

We do our site development on a URL that we share with our customer. At every step of the design and build, the client can see the progress and have input into design tweaks.
