A full week of being FULL TIME Alyssa Eakin Studio!!! 🥹😭 Like what?!?!

And I think the biggest adjustment has honestly been realizing… wait, I can decide what my day looks like now. 😂

I have worked for someone else in some capacity basically my entire adult life. There has always been a schedule, somewhere I needed to be, hours that belonged to someone else. And this week I’ve caught myself multiple times having to rewire my brain because… I don’t have to do that anymore.

Obviously I still have deadlines. 😂 I have clients I care DEEPLY about, work I want to do really freaking well, emails to answer, calls to take and a business to actually RUN.

But I also have three babies who are only going to be this little once.

And today I got to do both.

We prayed together. I answered emails. We survived Liam’s four-year shots… barely. 😂 We went to Target TWICE because of course we did. Liam bought our Chick-fil-A with 25 cents. I took work calls in the car. We went bowling with my mom + grandma. Ate banana pudding from a peach cobbler place because that makes sense. 😂 Then I came home, got some really good work in and we ended the night together when Jacob got home.

THAT is the kind of day I want more of.

Not because it was perfectly balanced. It absolutely was not. 😂 But because I got to decide.

I got to be really present with my kids AND show up for the people who trust me with their businesses.

And that freedom means more to me than I think I even realized it would.

I don’t know exactly what every season of this business will look like. I just know I’m really grateful God gave me the courage to finally step into this one.

Week one. 🥹🤍 And dang, I’m grateful to be here.

Can I save you a few thousand dollars?

Before you hire a designer, do these five things.

Not because there are "rules," but because these are the things I've seen make the biggest difference between a project that feels frustrating... and one that truly changes a business.

Whether you're investing in branding, a website, or graphic design, this is where I'd start.

The biggest takeaway? Don't just hire a designer. Hire the right designer.

Recommendations are a wonderful place to start, but they shouldn't be the deciding factor.

Take time to look through their portfolio. Ask to see work that's similar to the project you have in mind. Read reviews. Ask about their process. If you know someone who's worked with them, ask about their experience.

The best designer in the world might not be the best designer for your business.

These things help ensure you're investing in someone whose work, process, and communication style align with your vision, not just someone who happened to be recommended.

Save this for later if a rebrand, website, or creative project is on your radar.

I was a little MIA over the weekend…for a very important reason. 🥹

Our baby turned FOUR.

And if you ask me…I’m still processing it. 😂 Why does 3 to 4 feel like such a giant jump?!

We spent the last few days celebrating the very best way we know how. A zoo day on Thursday, birthday photos at the skate park on Friday, and a backyard full of water balloons, water games, and the Sonic the Hedgehog cake he’d been talking about for approximately three months. 😂

It was loud. Messy. Joyful. And exactly the kind of weekend I never want to rush through.

One of the things I’ve been thinking about a lot lately is that creativity doesn’t stop when I close my laptop.

It spills into birthday parties, little traditions, photo shoots with my own kids, and finding ways to celebrate the people I love well.

That’s honestly why I’m building Alyssa Eakin Studio.

Not just because I love branding, photography, and design…I do. So much.

But because I’m building a life that gives me the freedom to be here for these moments, while also showing my kids that work can be meaningful, creative, and full of purpose.

My family will always be my favorite reason to dream big.

Now if someone could explain how I have a four-year-old…I’d really appreciate it. 🤍

Here are a few things I'll never rush...

A conversation.
A logo.
A website.
A photograph.
A dream someone trusted me with.

Maybe it's because I believe a life built with intention rarely looks rushed.

It looks like walking through a crowd a little slower...long enough to notice the people who might otherwise be overlooked.

It looks like making eye contact when someone is speaking.

It looks like asking one more question.

It looks like tweaking a design one more time because you know it isn't quite there yet.

The world will always tell us to move faster.

I hope my life and my work always remind people that some of the most meaningful things are created when we're slow enough to be intentional.
