How to be Social

How to be Social An art business community supporting your goals your highest potential as a human being by giving you the tools and hack to level up.

03/23/2026

This week we’re featuring Southern California artist Liz C. Fernandez for How To Be Social.

Her work explores the duality of life; the coexistence of light and darkness; and the truth that both are essential to the human experience. Through her art, she invites us to feel it all… to embrace the depth, the contrast, and the beauty of simply being alive.

Not only do her paintings speak volumes, they remind us to keep going. To stay committed to our own journeys. To reach our full potential.

That’s everything we stand for at How To Be Social.

If you want to experience her work, check out her Instagram and website.

And stay tuned this week; we’ll be sharing more about Liz and her story. 💛

Austin, you showed up in a big way.

Our first tour stop brought together artists, musicians, collaborators, and new friends under one roof, and the energy lasted all night. Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, helped set up, hosted conversations, and made the space feel alive.

We’re especially grateful to the home that welcomed us, the artists who shared their work, and the vendors and collaborators who helped make the evening possible. Please check the tags and support everyone involved.

Special appreciation to Joe Johnson for traveling from Dallas to document the night so the community could remember it together.

This is exactly why How To Be Social exists; art is better when it’s shared.

More soon.

🧠 The Science of Love + Staying Social 💞

Cuffing season? Over it. This fall, the internet is embracing — a movement all about choosing connection over coupledom.

As said best on TikTok, being single isn’t embarrassing — it’s an opportunity to build community. Science even agrees: love isn’t just romantic, it’s chemical. The hormone oxytocin (aka the love hormone) is released not only through romance but also through friendship, creativity, and shared experiences.

Experts say humans need about eight hugs a day to thrive — proof that closeness, not cuffing, is what keeps us healthy and grounded.

This season, How to Be Social is exploring the science of love — how art, friendship, and human connection literally rewire our brains for joy. From online convos to IRL events, it’s all about staying curious, creative, and connected.

Because love isn’t limited to romance — it’s community. 💋

Creator Jewels from The Jems Universe at her latest show. 💎

This moment wasn’t just about a performance—it was about community, courage, and creative freedom. We’re proud to back artists who dare to be different.

Major love to the other incredible artists who shared the stage and a huge shoutout to Twilite—a true staple in our city’s creative scene. Y’all make this possible. 💜
