I will absolutely give you direction when you need it.
I’ll tell you where the light looks incredible. I’ll fix the hand that suddenly has no idea where it’s supposed to go. I’ll give you something to do when standing in front of a camera starts feeling a little too much like... standing in front of a camera. 😂

But then I’ll stop.

Because usually, once you stop wondering what you’re supposed to be doing, this happens.

You lean into each other. You laugh. You reach for each other without thinking about it.

And that’s what I’m actually waiting for.

A little direction when you need it, and enough space for you to still look and feel like yourselves.

Consider this your permission to tell your wedding photographer what to wear. 😂

You spend SO much time choosing your colors, your florals, your wedding party attire, the dress code, the overall feel of the day... and then your vendor team is going to be walking around right in the middle of all of it.

Most of the time, you’ll find me in black. It’s classic, professional, and makes it easy for me to blend into the background when I need to.

But it doesn’t have to be the default.

Having a colorful garden party? Send me the colors.

Everyone in light neutrals? Tell me.

Black tie? Easy.

Destination wedding with a completely different vibe? I’m in.

I’m going to be around your wedding party, your guests, and inevitably in the background of someone’s photos and videos throughout the day. If you’d rather I blend into the *look of your wedding* too, just say the word.

Send me the dress code. Send me your colors. Heck, send me the whole Pinterest board.

Your engagement photos don’t have to mean finding a pretty park and spending an hour taking pictures.

They can also mean renting a boat and spending the evening on the water.

And personally... I vote for the boat. 😂

I love engagement sessions that actually give you something to do together. Go somewhere you’ve been wanting to explore. Plan a date. Get on the water. Grab coffee first. Make an entire afternoon out of it.

Because when you’re actually having fun together, you stop thinking quite so much about the fact that there’s a camera following you around.

And that’s usually when we get the good stuff.

So yes, bring me your slightly unconventional engagement session ideas.

Especially if they involve a boat.
