🤔Are you paying Google to advertise to people at 3 AM?

If you're running your business's Google Ads 24/7, the answer is probably yes.

Think about it: Would you pay your staff to sit by the phone at 3 AM? 🤔Probably not.

So why are you paying Google for clicks you can't respond to?

Google Ads works just like your business does—it has slow and busy hours.

If a lead submits an inquiry or calls you at a time when:

❌ Nobody is available to respond
❌ You won't respond for 6+ hours...

That lead is COLD by the time you reach them, and they are already calling your competition. That's how leads get stolen!

Here's how we approach this problem:

âś…Prioritized Budget: We analyze which hours of the day generate the highest-quality leads and allocate the majority of your daily spend there, making sure your ads dominate the competition when it matters.

âś…Strategic Pausing: The ads don't run during true "dead zones" (like the middle of the night) to stop the budget bleed.

The Result? You stop wasting budget on leads you can't close and spend more during the hours you can close them. If your manager is running your ads 24/7, they're not managing—they're just letting it run.

"Your ads are poorly set up because there is no business name."

That's what a "5-year veteran" freelancer tried to tell one of our clients.

Are you serious right now? That's like telling a chef their Michelin-star dish is bad because the napkin folded wrong. 🤦‍♂️

Now you understand the feeling.

The truth is, a business name on the ad itself does NOT move the needle on performance. It's a tiny detail.

What moves the needle is understanding the HIGH-IMPACT LEVERS that lead to sales—not clicks.

Here are 5 things we like to focus on to drive client success:

âś… Offer & Value Proposition: Enticing offers based on deep competitor research.

âś… Conversion Velocity: Optimized landing pages built to convert high-intent traffic.

âś… Intent-Based Targeting: Ad copy that targets audiences with the highest probability of becoming paying customers.

âś… Cross-Channel Strategy: Optimizing Google Ads' role alongside your other marketing efforts (PPC works best when it's not isolated).

âś… Location & Audience Precision: Ensuring your budget is spent only on the most valuable people and regions.

and so on.

Understanding and scaling the biggest impact points in performance is the goal here. Don't let someone convince you that small, insignificant details are the problem.

"What do you mean no changes were made in 5 months?!"

Let's be absolutely clear. Google Ads is NOT a set it and forget it type of platform! We'll keep saying it until we're blue in the face.

We had a conversation with another agency owner about optimizing a client's Google Ads account. We took a look at the change history, and we noticed something shocking...

No changes were made in FIVE... WHOLE... MONTHS!!

Let that sink in.

Would you trust in someone that wasted your money for 5 months, with little to no results, all because they weren't even touching the account?

That is completely unacceptable and to no surprise, that client cancelled their contract.

If your agencies/freelancers aren't communicating what they're doing and aren't updating you on a set schedule, it's time to have a serious conversation with them.

Just a reminder. Google Ads reps do NOT have your best interests in mind.

We've all heard the blanket statements designed to increase Google's bottom line:

❌"Increase the budget to get better performance!"

❌"Enable all auto-recommendations!"

❌"Have all your keywords on broad match!"

These are not strategic recommendations; they are sales pitches.

These blanket statements are done so Google can make more money. Any PPC or Google Ads specialist worth their salt will tell you not to blindly trust them. If what they provided was always beneficial to your business, then specialists and agencies wouldn't exist now would they?

If your landing page has people looking like this (see meme below), you already messed up.

While we don't create custom landing pages (for now), we've certainly seen our fair share of bad ones.

Here are 3 common practices that we've seen used across many landing pages that were able to convert interest to action.

1. An easy-to-read section as soon as the page loads in (refer to picture 2)
Your headline should be clear, concise, and address your core audience. Sub-headlines should provide additional context to your headline. An image/form on the right side is pretty common as well. Finally, your goal is to get them to either fill out the form or, if you're using a button, get them to take that action. Whether that's sign up now, book your discovery call, etc.

2. Too many words.
Focus on being efficient. Having visuals like lists, easy-to-read numbers, faces with testimonials, etc. can help segment the landing page better.

3. A simple structure.
This can vary from niche to niche, but a good principle to follow is what most of us learn at a young age: KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid). Your hero section (refer to practice 1 in this list), how your services offer a solution (no jargon), testimonials and/or reviews, any reassurances like certifications, badges, FAQs, and wrap it up with a final call to action.

"Our client's business is BOOMING thanks to us!"

Cool, but what does the data say about actual paying customers?

No kidding. This was an actual conversation, with an actual agency owner, who was bragging about their Google Ads performance. The problem came from them taking credit for something they weren't able to track.

Their answer: "Uhm... we aren't actually tracking that, but our conversion numbers are high!"

You know what else is high? The amount of gold medals Sam Anderson won at the Olympics. Who is Sam? How do we prove that he actually won those medals? Exactly—we can't. (Sorry to all the Sam Andersons reading this ❤️)

Point is: If your agency or freelancer is not tracking lead forms or phone calls, stop and consider why not?

"I just don't understand what went wrong!"

This was said to us by a business owner that was running Google Ads and weren't seeing any positive return... what happened next opened their eyes.

Incorrect campaign structure.
Bad keyword selection.
Wrong location targets.
Clueless on conversion goals.
Bad ad copy.
Bad communication.
Unclear budget expectations.
