If you search top fears, you’ll likely see these topping the list:
* Fear of heights
* Fear of public speaking
* Fear of small spaces
* Fear of flying
But if you ask an entrepreneur (esp with ADHD), you’d probably see fear of announcing “I have a new job, idea or business.”
At first, those things were fun to announce, because it felt like forward progress. But eventually, for me, it started feeling like, “Hey guys, I failed at something else!” And the temptation to hide was strong.
I was asked once, “do monsters grow or shrink under beds?” And the answer, of course, is grow…sometimes considerably.
So today, I’m facing one of my biggest fears, saying “hey guys, I have a new job!”
And while I’ll share more soon, what I’m learning is this:
Sometimes the bravest thing you can do isn’t building something brand new.
It’s choosing not to hide while you figure things out.
And even though it can feel this way sometimes, I know I’m not the only one still figuring it out.
PS No cliffhanger here.
I’m the Director of Sales – Major Accounts & Lifecycle Strategy at BodyShop Booster, (Go big or go home, right?) a rapidly scaling communication platform in the collision space.
PPS- My new job has nothing to do with Big Tex, but I am very thankful this new role came with fun adventures and some pretty fantastic co-workers!
More to come.
