FLOCKING AROUND WITH A PLAINTIFF
Imagine suing a law enforcement agency for excessive force, only to discover someone from that SAME agency has been keeping technological tabs on you!
Well, meet Tyler Murkerson.
On February 6, 2023, Coweta County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Murkerson at a gas station. Body-camera footage captured deputies taking him to the ground and tasing him.
His criminal charges were DISMISSED.
In September 2024, Murkerson filed a federal lawsuit accusing deputies of excessive force. Then things became even more interesting.
While that was pending, Murkerson began to feel like somebody was watching him. Specifically, LAW ENFORCEMENT! He said deputies started popping up everywhere.
He checked his license plate through a website providing Flock surveillance audit information.
He found himself entangled in FIVE SEARCHES!
According to his new federal lawsuit, sheriff’s office personnel searched his plate FIVE TIMES over 197 days in 2025.
The searches reportedly involved a surveillance network spanning more than 6,000 law enforcement cameras nationwide.
The listed search justifications included “INFO” and “37.”
On October 8, 2026, Murkerson filed another federal lawsuit naming Coweta County, Sheriff Lenn Wood, deputies William and Randall Faulkner, and Flock Safety.
He alleges unconstitutional and .
It doesn’t stop there, though…
The complaint also references an internal Flock audit and THREE sheriff’s office employees who resigned before it was completed.
The lawsuit seeks CLASS-ACTION STATUS, potentially including other Georgians whose plates were improperly searched.
The Sheriff’s Office declined to comment, citing pending litigation.
We have ALWAYS known Sheriff Lenn Wood to be a great sheriff and his deputies to do great work. It’s disappointing when allegations of misconduct reflect on the good men and women who work hard every day to do the right thing.
We will continue to follow this case.
