Around here, we say "EVERY T-SHIRT TELLS A STORY". Unfortunately, not every message is celebratory in the most frequently used sense of the word.

Last Thursday, the Track & Field teams at Wahlert Holy Family Catholic Schools (Official) and Central DeWitt came together to celebrate the life of Trisha Brookins at their district qualifier meet. As a beloved long-time teacher at Central DeWitt and the mother of Golden Eagles runner Jayden Brookins, they came together to raise funds for the family and show their support.

“It means a lot to me personally, just to show that unified coming together of two communities for a great purpose and to recognize a great person and to support a great family,” Olson said. “The Brookins family has been through an awful lot this past month or so and for us to be able to show them a little bit of our appreciation and support, I think it’s a great thing.”

“We’ve always known each other as communities, but for both teams to rally behind this family and such a tragedy, it’s amazing,” Berning said. “I’m just so glad our two communities could come together to make a tragedy, hopefully a little bit brighter for their family.”
