Some of what ranks for Durango searches isn't from Durango - several results aren't even from Colorado. There's a difference between a business in a town and a webpage about a town. If you want peace of mind, log into business.google.com and confirm you're the verified owner - that's free, and it's the thing that actually protects your listing.

The review ask that works: individual, by name, right after a good interaction, with the direct link included. Five personal asks a week gets you two or three reviews. What doesn't work: a sign by the register, a mass email, or anything offered in exchange - that last one is against Google's rules and can get reviews removed. Google gives every business a short review link in the Business Profile dashboard. Use that one.

Three free things to do before you pay anyone a dollar for marketing: 1) Claim and verify your Google Business Profile - unclaimed listings can't rank properly and anyone can suggest edits to them. 2) Make your name, address, phone, and hours identical everywhere they appear. 3) Ask five happy customers for a review, individually, by name.
