Your bike setup matters more than you realize. Dial it in and you'll feel the difference on the trail. πŸ‘€πŸš΅

We sat down with Evan Puglia from Sedona Mountain Bike Academy to talk about one of the most overlooked parts of riding: dialing in your bike before you ever hit the trail. Knowing your measurements (ahem, not just the squeeze test), running the right tire pressure front vs. back, and understanding your fork and shock pressure can completely change how your bike feels under you.

Here's the thing most riders don't think about: temperature changes between home and the trailhead can shift your pressures more than you'd expect. Get in the habit of checking your bike every single time you ride. It's one of those small habits that separates a good rider from a great one.

Sedona MTB Academy dials all of this in with their lessons, because a well-set-up bike isn't a luxury, it's the foundation of a great rider.

We did this trip a while back, but some experiences just stick with you. The Maze was one of them. 🏜️🚡

We set off on a 5-day mountain biking trip with Western Spirit Cycling Adventures into the most remote district of Canyonlands, and it exceeded every expectation. The riding was incredible. Technical doubletrack, the legendary Flint Trail, and camping under some of the clearest skies we've ever seen... not to mention the delicious food.

But the moment that really got us? Standing in front of the Harvest Scene: a 3,000-year-old pictograph panel painted by the Archaic People, deep inside Pictograph Fork. It's basically impossible to see unless you're willing to make a trip deep into the Canyonlands, and well worth the trek.

If The Maze has been on your list, Western Spirit handles everything from guides, food, camping, and permits. You just book through TripOutside and show up in Moab ready to ride.

Most bike trips take you from A to B.

You follow the route. You stay on trail. And somewhere along the way, you ride past a canyon slot you'll never explore, a river you'll never float, a ridgeline hike that wasn't in the plan.

That's not the case with Western Spirit. Their Adventure Trips were built around a simple idea: biking gets you into the backcountry. But it's not the only thing you can do there. So they built trips where rafting, hiking, and canyoneering aren't add-onsβ€”they're the point.

We sat down with from to hear how Adventure Trips came together, and why they might be the most thorough way to actually experience public lands.

Stay tunedβ€”we'll be sharing our own Western Spirit trip, including a side trip to one of Canyonlands' most iconic features (you'll know it when you see it).

In the 90s, mountain bikers were getting kicked off hiking trails. Land managers didn't want them. Hikers didn't want them. And for a while, it looked like mountain biking on public lands might just… not survive. 🚡

So they picked up shovels.

A movement of volunteer trail builders started doing the work nobody asked them to do: designing, digging, and maintaining trails on public lands. Not to get something in return. To prove they belonged.

It worked.

That volunteer-driven effort shifted the conversation entirely. Mountain bikers went from being seen as a problem to being recognized as some of the most dedicated stewards of public trails in the country. Land managers took notice. Policies changed. Funding followed.

Today, trails aren't a fringe outdoor debateβ€”they're economic development. Towns compete to build them. Regions brand themselves around them. The mountain bikers who picked up shovels in the 90s didn't just save their sport. They built the foundation for how we think about trail access today.

We sat down with the team at to hear how it happened, and what it means for the future of trails and public lands.

You can hear a glacier before you see it. The cracking, the groaning, the crash of calving ice. 🧊

That sound, and the silence that follows, is one of the wildest things you'll ever experience. And in Alaska, you don't have to watch it from a distance.

Here are 6 ways to get up close:
πŸš‚ Spencer Glacier, Anchorage β€” take a scenic train ride in, paddle to the glacier face, raft 7 miles back out. One day, two adventures. With
πŸ” Columbia Glacier, Valdez β€” kayak among icebergs in Prince William Sound. Day trips and multi-day expeditions. Ages 5+. With
πŸ›Ά Mendenhall Glacier, Juneau β€” canoe across a milky-blue lake, weaving through icebergs, then walk onto the glacier. Just 12 miles from downtown. With
🧊 Root Glacier, McCarthy β€” strap on crampons and hike the ice, or go full send with guided ice climbing. Inside Wrangell-St. Elias NP. With
🌊 Aialik Bay, Seward β€” sea kayak to a calving tidewater glacier face. Watch house-sized ice crash into the sea while you're surrounded by wildlife. With
πŸ₯Ύ Exit Glacier, Seward β€” hike through Kenai Fjords NP to the glacier's edge and read the retreat markers showing how far it's pulled back since the 1800s. The most powerful walk in Alaska. With
β›Ί Northwestern Fjord, Seward β€” seven tidewater glaciers and remote beach camping. The wildest, most jaw-dropping corner of Kenai Fjords. With

Watch this before you snorkel in Alaska. 🀿🌊

Most people don't think about when to go. But with Alaska, timing changes everything.
We got the full breakdown from on the TripOutside podcast, and it's not what you'd expect.

April and May? Coldest water of the snorkeling season. Also, the clearest. Less plankton activity means visibility goes deep and moody in that distinctly Alaskan way. 🧊

Midsummer? Water temps climb to 65Β°F, daylight is basically endless, and the fish are as active as they get. Visibility drops a little, but the energy underwater is unreal.

Late August and September? The sweet spot. Temps cool back down, clarity returns, and the fish are still putting on a show. 🐟

There's no bad time. Just different kinds of incredible.

πŸ‘‡ Would you take the plunge?
