More foodie adventures from our recent Cary, NC trip 🌮

We checked out Lawrence BBQ and absolutely loved the mix of smoked meats and Latin American-inspired flavors.

Between the Carnitas tacos, Chopped adobo brisket sando, Carnitas-style pulled pork sando, and the Buffalo + garlic + cotija chicken sandwich, we basically ordered our dream lineup!

Also worth noting for my allergen-friendly crowd: aside from two dishes containing peanuts, we found them super dairy-free friendly and easy to navigate. 🙌

Perfecting pizza night in the Ooni, round 2 🍕🔥⁠

This time we went back to the 00 flour dough recipe and topped it with ground beef, chipotle peppers in adobo, and fresh spring onions for a little crunch and brightness.⁠

Still learning, still tweaking, still happily eating every “test” pizza along the way (honestly, the slightly charred edges might be my favorite part).⁠

It's (almost) time for summer drinks 🍹🥃

We started the season early at one of our fave rum breweries in the area, ! Jamie had a smoky old-fashioned, and I enjoyed one of their new watermelon mojitos.

These were paired really well with local snack maker, , with all kinds of seasoned pretzels (we loved the Honey BBQ and Hot Yaki flavors). They have quite a few dairy-free flavors, but make sure to double-check the ingredients for allergens just in case.

All you need is love—and a generous serving of gelato. 🍨

We loved stumbling upon on our recent weekend trip to Cary, NC, to visit our buddy Hunter.

Loved that they had multiple dairy-free options, and the decor inside was super cute. Check out our stories for a behind-the-scenes video of Jamie's affogato (made with stracciatella gelato and espresso).

Our latest date night was at our fave - and they have new drink specials for you to try!

Jamie and I stuck with our tried-and-true food favorites, like the steak fajita nachos for him and the Burrito Mr. Cactus for me (dairy-free, of course)! But we tried one of their new drinks on the menu, the “Dulce Fuego” margarita - combining Mezcal, habanero tequila, lime juice, mango puree, and a Chamoy & Tajin rim for an extra kick! This was super smoky, sweet, and spicy, balanced with the saltiness from the rim. I highly recommend trying this and their other new drinks this season.

It’s time again! But first, a little backstory. 💜 Jamie’s family has an awesome birthday cake tradition- German chocolate cake! 🎂 It started with his Mom’s Mother, whose family originated from Germany, making homemade German chocolate cake for her kids every year. When we invited them over recently to check out the progress on our garden, I made his grandparents a special homemade German chocolate cake using the recipe from for their upcoming birthdays! This was only my second attempt at making a German chocolate cake ever, and her recipe made it so easy and delicious (and no one could tell it was dairy free 🤫). Absolutely adding this to my roster of fantastic dessert recipes to remake again. 👏 What is your favorite birthday cake flavor? Let us know in the comments below 👇

Another year, another great Artisphere! 👏

While we didn’t take anything home with us, we had a good time walking around downtown with Beanie in tow.

Some awesome food vendors, as always, especially Latin Flavorz with their delicious beef and vegan empanada options (dairy free as usual!).
