When I set out to build my dream, I found my inspiration from a small business in Piedmont, Oklahoma called The Old Store. (You can find them on Facebook & see a pic of their entrance below) The feeling I got when I first walked in the door was something I'll never forget. They have old creaky wooden floors and booths lined with local crafters and artists displaying their talents for sale to the public. They have an embroidery business in the back and retail space all throughout. So, I started small, I started screen printing again in my basement. I put a blast on Facebook 2 years ago asking for local crafters to contact me if they would be interested in retail space to display their goods. We originally had 12 people jump on board who believed in my dream and patiently waited for the new location to rise. I wanted variety in the store and we receive just that. Fast forward four years, and we have finally made the move to town where we can offer space to our local crafters and artists in a space called The Corner Store. We now have 18 spots filled. My crafters and artist pay only rent, I don't keep a penny of their proceeds, they earn 100% of what they sell. And in doing so, we can offer a little bit of everything right here in Eldon, Iowa and support several small business dreams in the process. I get so darn excited when a crafter or artist located here sells something they have worked hard on. It's just the best feeling to work together with them to showcase their talents.
