I don’t know where to start other than the beginning.
When I was a freshman, turning into a sophomore, I decided one day that I was going to make a couple graphics of some sports teams at my school. I made an account and started posting that stuff along with some random Boston graphics content. What it turned into was a job opportunity from the athletic department at Western New England Athletics . They needed a role to fill and with me not having a ton of experience, I took that summer to learn a lot about sports graphic design so when I started I didn’t look like a total rookie. As I kept doing graphics and trying new styles and effects, I started to find a burning passion for being a creative and wanting to express myself. Even when it got repetitive, I knew deep down that creating something unique, something that I liked, and not being restricted on my creativity, was when I knew I found something I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
Two years down the line, my boss and my dad kept asking me to do photography. One day I grabbed my boss’ camera and I shot my first ever sports game. I loved that so much that I bought my own camera just a few weeks later at my internship at Troy Industries so I could not only just do photos, but even try video too. The only thing I regret is not getting the camera sooner. Ever since then, my life has been in an upward motion.
I want to thank my dad, my boss Colin, Western New England Athletics, Troy Industries, Canopy Management Group, and everyone else apart of my journey for believing in me and my creative drive and dedication to be a better person. I still have a lot more to accomplish after graduating WNE, but I will sure miss being a part of the athletics department there. To all those long nights making graphics or getting a photo album done, deep down I will miss it. To all the athletes, thank you for making my job fun and allowing me to be apart of those moments where you won an award or accomplished something.
It’s not the end of Colby Visuals in the slightest, just one chapter closing and a new one opening.
