A Particularly Dangerous Situation (PDS) Tornado Watch is now in effect until 8:00 PM CDT for northeast Kansas and southeast Nebraska. Conditions are highly favorable for the rapid development of supercell thunderstorms capable of producing several tornadoes, including a few intense (potentially strong) tornadoes, along with very large hail up to 3 inches in diameter and damaging winds up to 70 mph. Storms are expected to develop quickly over north-central Kansas and track northeast through the afternoon into southeast Nebraska. This is a dangerous setup with strong instability and wind shear in place—be ready to act quickly if warnings are issued. Stay alert, monitor weather updates closely, and have multiple ways to receive warnings.
