I've heard a marketer say they wish every business owner could go viral once, just so they'd realize how little it moves the needle.

A video with 500,000 views sounds great, but if none of those viewers are potential customers, what did it actually accomplish for your business?

Instead, find the topics your audience already cares about. Look at what they’re searching for, the questions they’re asking, and where there’s already demand.

Then make the best content you can for those people.

For a business, the right 5,000 views can be worth far more than the wrong 500,000.

Well, it's official! 🎥

Bright Spark is partnering with The Experience as an Official Media Partner for The Experience 2026 in Las Vegas.

I'm particularly excited about this one because restoration is an industry I spent several years working in before starting Bright Spark. A lot of what I learned there, and many of the relationships I built, helped shape the company we're building today.

Next month, we'll be on the show floor capturing conversations with some of the leading voices in restoration about where the industry is heading, what business owners are experiencing, and the ideas shaping its future.

Those conversations will become our Industry Conversations series, released by R&R and Bright Spark during and after the event.

Huge thanks to Kayla McGowan and the team at R&R Magazine for trusting us with the opportunity. 🙌🏻

It'll be pretty special walking back onto The Experience show floor this time with Bright Spark on the booth.

If you're attending, come say hello! 👋🏻

We'll be next to The Experience 2027 booth... and the bar. What more would you need? 😅

One thing I've learned about marketing is that the best strategies compound.

You don't throw away what worked last year just because you've found something new.
You build on it.

That's how brands grow stronger over time. And it's why consistency with the right strategy matters so much.

What's one investment you've made that's still paying off years later?

08/22/2026

The best businesses don't just solve one problem well.
They become the place people think of whenever that entire subject comes up.

That's what real authority looks like.

It isn't built overnight. It's built one helpful piece of content at a time.

What do you want your business to become known for?

The hardest part of marketing is getting noticed.
The fun part comes later.

When people recognize your brand, recommend you to others and keep coming back, growth starts feeling a lot less like an uphill battle.

That's what momentum looks like.

What's one business you keep going back to without even thinking about it?

It's tempting to chase the next stage of growth.

The problem is, every stage depends on the one before it.

The businesses that last don't skip the fundamentals. They build on them.

That's why sustainable growth often looks slower in the beginning... but much faster over the long run.

It's easy to look at an established business and forget they all started from zero.

No audience.
No reputation.
No momentum.

Every expert was once a beginner who kept showing up.

The hardest step is usually the first one.

The biggest shift in marketing happens when people stop showing up because of the topic.....and start showing up because they trust you.

That's when you've built a real brand.

Products can be copied.
Trust can't.

What's a brand you follow because you genuinely like the people behind it?

This is a real screenshot from a YouTube channel we manage & it's a 'mystery' I see all the time. This video sat quietly for nearly four months.

Then, without us changing the title, thumbnail or content.....it took off. 🚀 Look at that explosion of views!

A lot of people point to this type of sample as proof that the algorithm is random.
I don't.

💡 Here's what's actually happening.

When a video is first published, YouTube doesn't show it to everyone. It starts with a small audience; the people it believes are most likely to find the content valuable.

This is what I call your 'core audience' (people who already know and trust you). Or, you may have heard the term 'seed audience'.

YouTube is evaluating how this audience responds.
Do they click?
Do they keep watching?
Do they stay on the platform after watching?

Those are the kinds of signals that help YouTube decide whether to introduce the video to progressively larger audiences.

Sometimes that process takes hours.
Sometimes it takes months.

That's why I've never viewed YouTube as a lottery.

It's a recommendation engine that's constantly re-evaluating content based on how people respond to it.

Understanding those signals, and creating content that earns them, is where strategy makes all the difference.

It's also why one great video can continue working for your business long after you hit publish.

YouTube really is a platform like no other - and that's one of the reasons why I love it!

Everyone wants the viral moment.

But most successful businesses are built on something much less exciting. Being consistently useful.

Answer your customers' biggest questions better than anyone else, and you'll build trust long before you build fame.

That's a much stronger foundation.

Would you rather have one viral post or a hundred customers who trust your expertise?
