Thank you everyone for bearing with us last week with all the craziness going on! From doctors appts (little guy will be getting his tonsils out in a couple weeks đ”âđ«) to ball games and our ribbon cutting I donât think we really stopped all week. Thank you everyone who came out! I thought Iâd share the write up for the paper here:
My name is Mariah Christiansen, and I own MC Horses and Tack in Falls City, NE. Horses and love for a western lifestyle have been a big part of my life for as long as I can remember.
I currently own 3 horses and use any free time riding and spending time with them. What started as a passion for horses and quality tack has grown into a thriving business that allows me to serve horse owners all over the country and spend more time with my family. I have been blessed to raise my son Roy in the tack store with me. Outings with our mobile tack trailer are always a great time. My family comes along when they can and we always make it an adventure.
I grew up in Falls City, and it has been wonderful to come back home and get to see my family regularly.
When I was in college I worked at a tack store in North Platte, NE called âCowboy Connectionâ the owners, Monty and Kathy Decker quickly became like family to me. They helped me get my start, and after Monty passed away, I was able to purchase the remaining inventory from Kathy and move into their old building. Monty and Kathy were a huge inspiration to me. They had a store front and took a mobile trailer loaded with gear to horse shows, sales and rodeos. They made relationships and lifelong friends wherever they went.
Fall of 2025 I moved back to Falls City to open a store front downtown at 1604 Stone Street. I have dabbled in leatherwork for the last 10 years, growing more serious about it 2 years ago when I was able to purchase my first leather sewing machine. Here at the store, I offer almost anything you need to outfit your horse. From bridles, halters, saddle pads, saddles to ropes. We carry quality gear that wonât break the bank. If we donât have it, a lot of times I can order and have it within a week or two.
I have recently started taking in limited custom orders and repair work. We clean and oil saddles. What started as a small collection of tack on a few fold-up tables has grown into a business that serves customers both locally and internationally. We ship orders daily all over the US and other countries such as Canada, Mexico, Israel and Australia.
The response from the community has exceeded anything I could have imagined. We have loved meeting and re acquainting with everyone. We have done numerous repairs and several custom builds for the local community. We have had customers travel from over four hours away to come shop. We get a lot of traffic from Lincoln, Omaha, St. Joseph area, south central Nebraska, and all over Kansas. Our online presence has been strong, and we now ship multiple orders daily. We are almost to 17,000 followers on Facebook.
Over the next year, my goal is to continue fine-tuning our website, expand our handmade product offerings, and continue growing both our storefront and online business. Iâd like to offer more products that are handmade right here in Falls City, Nebraska, while continuing to provide hard working gear at honest prices.
