Story Behind Growing Tall Poppies

I learned about “Tall Poppy Syndrome” while working in Australia and New Zealand. Based on my google findings, the term Tall Poppy Syndrome describes aspects of a culture where people of high position or high success are resented, attacked, or criticized because they have been classified as “superior” to their peers. This English term is especially common in Australia and New Zealand, and “cutting down the tall Poppy” describes the cultural phenomenon of mocking these people or themselves and is seen by many as self-deprecating. So Success should not be aspired but should be taken down. I know, WHAT?!?

Growing up in United States of America, the Land of Opportunity, I did not understand why we can not have Land of Tall Poppies! Thus to Motivate, Mentor, Coach the most amazing group of women entrepreneurs in Australia and New Zealand and to realize their full God-given potential, #GrowingTallPoppies was created. Instead of cutting down Tall Poppies, we can MENTOR, MOTIVATE and SUPPORT each other to “GROW TALL POPPIES” and have a Land full of Beautiful Tall Poppies.
