A new chapter in hands-on learning is taking root in South Florida!

Emeril Lagasse Foundation has selected Larkdale Elementary School in Lauderhill as its newest partner for Emeril’s Culinary Garden & Teaching Kitchen, bringing immersive gardening, nutrition and culinary education to approximately 424 students.

As the program’s ninth school nationwide, Larkdale students will gain hands-on opportunities to learn where food comes from, develop culinary and life skills, and build healthy habits that can last a lifetime. The initiative will transform the school’s existing garden and learning spaces into an integrated garden-to-table educational environment.

The South Florida expansion was made possible through a multi-year grant from the Humana Foundation, with support from Broward Education Foundation and Broward County Public Schools.

Construction is expected to be completed by February 2027, helping bring Chef Emeril Lagasse’s vision of empowering young people through food, education and wellness to life right here in Broward County.
