First weekend of September. 🍂☀️

We’re in that little in-between season in Maine…

Summer isn’t quite ready to leave.
Fall is starting to sneak in.
The evenings are getting cooler.
And somehow September is already here.

One thing I’ve learned from creating content is that some of the best stories aren’t planned — they’re simply noticed.

A local event.
A beautiful view.
A customer interaction.
Something happening behind the scenes.
A quick stop at another small business.
Or just one of those everyday moments that makes you think, “I should capture this.”

So heading into the weekend, here’s your challenge:

Look around.

What’s one moment you can capture that tells a little piece of your story?

Enjoy the first September weekend, support something local, and don’t forget to notice the good stuff happening around you. 💜🦅

🌻 Keep turning toward what helps you grow.

One of the things I love about sunflowers is how they naturally reach toward the light.

It feels a little like growing a small business.

Not every day brings huge growth.
Not every post gets tons of engagement.
Not every idea works the first time.

But you keep showing up.
You keep learning.
You keep adjusting.
And little by little… you grow. 🌻

As Summer comes to a close and we head toward a new season, maybe this is your reminder not to measure your progress by one day, one post, or one number.

Keep showing up.
Keep telling your story.
Keep connecting with your community.
And keep turning toward the things that help your business rise. 💜

Share or tag a small business you know that could use this ERM sunflower wisdom today!

“What can I capture here?” 📸

It’s a question I find myself asking almost everywhere I go.

At a local business.
Walking through a community event.
Sitting down for lunch.
Watching someone work.
Even when I’m technically supposed to be relaxing. 😂

I notice things.

The little interactions.
The details someone else might walk past.
The person behind the business.
The moments that tell a story without anyone having to pose for the camera.

That’s probably one of my favorite parts of what I do with Eagle Rise Media.

Because when I walk into a business, I’m not only thinking:

“What should we post?”

I’m looking around and thinking:

“What can I capture here that helps someone else see what makes this place special?”

There’s a difference.

Your business already has a story happening every day.

Sometimes you just need someone there to notice it. 💜

August went fast. ☀️

But take a look at your camera roll…

I’m willing to bet there’s a story or two sitting in there that you never shared.

A busy day at the shop.
A project you were proud of.
Your team having a little fun.
A community event you attended.
A customer favorite.
Something happening behind the scenes.
Or just one of those everyday moments you snapped a picture of and thought, “I’ll post that later.”

And then…later never happened. 😂

Here’s your Friday reminder: content doesn’t always have to be brand new.

Scroll back through your summer camera roll. You might already have next week’s post sitting there.

Sometimes the best content isn’t something you create.

It’s something you already captured. 📸

What’s hiding in YOUR camera roll?

Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Around here, every day might be Dog Day…but apparently today makes it official. 😂

Whether they’re your walking buddy, office assistant, content interrupter, unofficial business supervisor or the reason you have 742 dog photos on your phone, they certainly have a way of becoming part of everything we do. 💜

And today is an extra special day in our family because it’s also my son’s birthday! 🎉 Apparently he has to share his day with all the dogs. 😂

Now let’s fill the comments with something guaranteed to make everyone smile…

Show me your dog! 🐶📸

And if you’re a fellow small business owner, does your pup ever come to work with you?

I’ve spent a little more time behind the laptop than behind the camera this past week. 📱💻

My pup had surgery, and what was supposed to be a few quiet recovery days turned into a few extra days of trying to convince her that “rest” actually means REST. 🙁

So I’ve been close by, keeping an eye on her and making sure she continues to heal.

But hopefully this week I’ll be back out and about, camera in hand, capturing some of the people, businesses and everyday moments happening in our communities.

Because some of my favorite content isn’t planned.

It’s the customer walking through the door.
The employee laughing behind the counter.
The work happening behind the scenes.
The little moments that show people who you really are.

That’s the stuff I love to capture.

Here’s hoping for a healing pup and a camera roll that’s a whole lot fuller by the end of this week. 💜

💜 FRIDAY SMALL BUSINESS SHOUT-OUT! 💜

Supporting a small business doesn't always mean spending money.

There are SO many ways we can help each other that don't cost a thing.

👍 Like their posts.
📲 Share something they posted.
⭐ Leave a review.
🏷️ Tag them when someone is looking for what they offer.
📣 Tell your friends about them.
❤️ Cheer them on.

Those little things matter more than you might realize — especially to a small business working hard to grow.

So let's use this Friday to spread a little local love. 🙌

👇 Tag a small business in the comments that deserves a shout-out.

And if you see a business tagged that you love, give them a like, follow or share while you're here.

Small businesses supporting small businesses.

That's how communities rise. 💜🦅

🏆 WINNING WEDNESDAY 🏆

Small business owners — are you winning at social media right now?

Or has it become one more thing on the never-ending list?

Are you...

📸 Capturing the great things happening inside your business?
🎥 Taking those behind-the-scenes videos people love to see?
💬 Sharing your story and reminding people why you do what you do?
📱 Showing up consistently enough that your business stays top of mind?

If you're reading this thinking, “Well...not exactly.” 😅

That's where I can help.

One of my favorite parts of Eagle Rise Media is getting to know the businesses I work with — learning their story, discovering what makes them different, capturing the moments happening behind the scenes, and helping them consistently show up in front of the people who matter.

And right now, I have room to help a couple more small businesses do exactly that. 💜

You keep doing what you do best.

I'll help make sure people see it.

📩 If social media keeps getting pushed to tomorrow, let's chat.

“But how many followers do they have?”

That's usually not my first question.

Mine is:

👉 But did the content WORK?

A business can have thousands of followers and very little engagement.

Another can have a much smaller audience and consistently get people commenting, sharing, messaging, clicking — and walking through the door.

That's why follower count alone doesn't tell the whole story.

When I'm looking at content, I'm watching things like:

👀 Reach and views
💬 Engagement
↗️ Shares
💾 Saves
📩 Messages and inquiries
🔗 Clicks
🚪 And ultimately...is it helping the BUSINESS?

Sometimes the post you weren't sure about is the one that takes off.

Sometimes the beautiful graphic you loved doesn't.

And sometimes something completely unexpected teaches you exactly what your audience wants more of.

That's why we test.

Marketing isn't about creating content YOU think should work.

It's about learning what connects with the people you're trying to reach.

The numbers tell a story.

Make sure you're looking at the right ones. 📊

Sometimes the best days are the simple ones. 💜

Last Saturday, I spent the afternoon with my granddaughter on a little road trip to Bangor. We definitely didn’t have enough time to do everything on my list (next time! 😉), but we squeezed in lunch at Chick-fil-A, some quality time together, and a stop in Waterville at one of my favorite local bookstores, Oliver & Friends Bookshop . 📚

And that last part is something I absolutely love.

Finding great local businesses. Walking through their doors. Seeing what makes them special. Supporting them when I can. And giving them a shoutout so maybe someone else discovers them, too. ❤️

It’s a big part of why I love what I do with Eagle Rise Media. Small businesses are part of what makes our communities feel like home, and sometimes supporting them is as simple as stopping in, making a purchase, sharing a post, leaving a review, or telling someone, “You have to check this place out!”

We may have run out of time this trip, but that just means we need another adventure. 😊

Where should we stop next time? Tag a favorite local business that we should add to our list! 👇
