What I see vs. what everyone else sees.
Behind the scenes of an Instagram post for a business owner went a little something like this...

A little creativity: Wednesdays, my business friend waxes...I believe this was in October. Wednesday Adams and a day of the week...hmmmmm. Now I've got something.

WE WAX ON WEDNESDAY...was the concept that I came up with and the final design was at the end.

This graphic served a purpose.
She wants them to book a wax on Wednesday.

Purpose served!

You open Canva ready to create…
and suddenly you don’t know where to start.
Before you blame the blank screen, back up a little.

The first decision isn’t the template.

It isn’t the font.
It isn’t the colors.
It’s the message.

Who is this for?
What do they need to understand?
Why should they care?
And what do you want them to do next?

Once you know those answers, designing gets a whole lot easier.
Because Canva is the tool. It shouldn’t be the strategy.
Strategy first. Design second.
Save this for the next time Canva has you staring at a blank screen. 😩

Canva isn’t always the problem.
Sometimes we open Canva before we’ve decided what we’re actually trying to say.

Then we’re 37 templates deep, changing fonts, moving boxes around, and somehow…we’re designing spaghetti sauce. 😂

Before you design the post, answer this:
What do I want someone to understand, feel, or do after they see this?

Get clear on the message first.
Then choose the format.
Then design it.
Strategy before design. Every time.
Save this for the next time that blank Canva screen starts staring back at you. 👀💚
