The best content usually doesn’t start with a perfect script.

It starts with something you already know, something you’re already doing, or something you already have an opinion about.

That’s it. That’s the trick.

Your audience doesn’t need a perfectly polished version of you. They need a real one they can actually connect with.

So next time you’re staring at the camera with absolutely nothing happening upstairs 😵‍💫, pick one:
what you know,
what’s happening,
or what you’re thinking.

Then hit record and yap.

Being perceived can feel uncomfortable for a reason. Most of us learned pretty early that standing out meant risking judgment.

But when you own a business, being seen is also how people come to know you. They hear how you think, remember your perspective, and think of you when they need what you offer.

You don’t need to perform a version of yourself for the camera. People can feel when you’re genuinely you, and that’s where trust starts.

Every small business owner has a story. A personality. A face behind the counter, the desk, the camera… or whatever your “counter” is.

Because sure, a beautiful picture of mashed potatoes might make me hungry. But I’m probably not forming an emotional attachment to your mashed potatoes.

I might, however, form one with the person behind them.

The story of why you started. The personality behind the business. The little things that make someone feel like they know you before they’ve ever walked through the door.

And that’s where the fear of being perceived can get in the way.

It’s easy to hide behind beautiful product photos. It’s a lot more vulnerable to put yourself, your voice and your personality into your content.

But people connect with people.

Your product gives them something to buy. The person behind it gives them something to care about.

Hey there! I’m Racheal, a Kentuckian who loves exploring, telling good stories, and helping small businesses thrive.
