Are you an avid gardener or curious about growing more flowers, veggies and fruits?
Our active group of Neighborhood Gardeners is working with the Waters Landing HOA Community Engagement Committee to get more people in our community involved in all the beautiful benefits of gardening.
We launch this year's events with our first meeting on Wednesday May 20 at 7pm at the Waters Landing Community Center.
Our theme is "Show and Tell". Bring something garden- related to share or just bring yourself and talk about what you want to learn/do in your garden this year.
Interested gardeners are invited to join our page, "Neighborhood Gardeners".
**Last year's events included multiple garden tours. This year we plan to add a couple of field trips and feature more tours as well. We call them "Garden Gatherings" and they are welcoming and friendly. You will leave inspired and feeling more connected to other neighborhood gardeners.**
We hope to see you there!

Resources and Information
Beware of Scams Tied to Tax Season
Every year, thieves use tax season as a reason to reach out to potential victims with promises of big returns, quick cash, or to steal their tax refund. They also know that some victims may be worried about the tax bill they owe and use that to threaten and intimidate victims.
If you get an unexpected call, email, or text claiming to be from the IRS—especially one demanding payment or personal information—it’s likely a scam.
The IRS will not call to threaten arrest or demand immediate payment. They will not ask for payments by wire transfer or prepaid card. When in doubt, hang up and contact the IRS directly at 1‑800‑829‑1040.
Common Scams to Watch for:
· “You owe back taxes” phone calls.
· Fake IRS refund emails or texts.
· Requests to “verify” personal, payroll, or W‑2 information.
· Threats that your Social Security number will be suspended.
How to verify an IRS Contact:
· Hang up and call the IRS directly at the official number: 1-800‑829‑1040.
· Check your online IRS account for any real notices or balances.
· Never use phone numbers given by the caller.

As an election Judge, depending on the number of days served, you will earn up to a minimum $250 stipend per full day or Student Service-Learning hours. Individuals who served in the previous election cycle will receive a $100 bonus per full day served ($50 for part-day shifts), along with a great hands-on introduction to the democratic process. MCPS Survey on New Initiatives
Earlier this year, MCPS implemented significant operational changes and shifts — affecting topics including grading, safety (including police in schools), the Student Code of Conduct, open lunch and cell phones in schools. MCPS is distributing surveys on several of these issues important to families, students and school-based staff; we want to know how they are working for you in practice.
The survey is available at: https://sharedaccountability.mcpsmd.org/NewInitiativesSu.../
Not everyone will receive the same set of questions. If you are a member of more than one group (for example, a staff member who is also a parent) you will be able to take the family survey and the staff survey, and potentially receive different questions. You will be asked to self-identify both times. Participation is confidential. No individual responses will be shared; only summarized data will be used to guide districtwide improvements.
