Lamar Street Tattoo Club 🤝 Creativity, originality, and expertise are fundamental requirements in the industry in which Lamar operates. By adhering to these values, their talented team has successfully maintained the pole position among the competition throughout the years.

🚫 The Problem: Their old website, however, did not exhaustively embody their beliefs. For starters, it was built with a template-based platform, which, due to the limited customization options, did not allow the Lamar team to express all their artistry through the design. Additionally, the aesthetic direction it was taking was not successfully showcasing the blend between traditional tattooing and contemporary standards that Josh encouraged through his work.

🙌 The Solution: Old-fashioned graphical elements, such as flamboyant picture frames and serif fonts for the titles and numbered lists, effectively balanced the minimalistic and, therefore, trendy wireframe of the site, providing that balance between old and new that Josh was so avidly pushing towards. The color red seemed to be a favorite among the picks our designer first presented to the Lamar team, and it was then utilized in a solely black-and-white layout. This color scheme was very much inspired by the intrinsic qualities of the ink and was very useful in pivoting the user’s attention towards the pictures of the tattoos and the shop.

Dr. Cynthia D. James is an International Speaker, Philanthropist, Author, and Ambassador to Africa for the Diaspora. 💜 Dr. James’ new project, PROTÉGÈ, gives young women in search of success the opportunity to join her in an immersive, empowering experience in different locations across the African continent.

💻 The website is built on a single-page layout, per the client’s request. For this reason, we adopted different tactics to help the user with the scrolling. The navigation, which always sticks to the top of the page, contains the links to the respective sections of the site.

💫 We implemented some horizontal scrolling in the form of a slideshow not only to optimize the accessibility of the information but also to create an aesthetic break from what would otherwise be a redundant layout. The new build-up and the use of alternate colored sections and gradients increase the users’ engagement and show that PROTÉGÉ invests in modern trends to reflect their progressive values.

Evoking Mindfulness 💜

The Project: The client requested our assistance with putting in place definitive brand guidelines, creating an elevated, classy, and recognizable trademark, and building an online presence for their project.

The Goal: It needed to evoke emotions in a young, women-based audience and effectively communicate the educational, cross-cultural, and spiritual nature of the force moving their initiative.

The Results: The new logo concept uses Dr. James’ initials to recreate a harmonious yet compact graphic, with each letter filling up the space in a way that forms a new geometric shape. The chosen colors draw a symbolic parallelism between the project’s mission and new beginnings.

Peace of Mind is a New York City-based psychotherapy and counseling practice that bridges the gap between traditional therapy and creativity. The aim of the website, to appeal to users from all backgrounds, led us to an abstract style that depicted recognizable subjects from the real world.

With the palette already presenting a wide variety of color options, simple and clean continuous line drawings (those in which a single, unbroken-like is used to construct the illustration) seemed to be the most appropriate choice.

Our designer selected a variety of images, which she then reinterpreted following the general guidelines that this drawing technique encompasses. With the help of our developer, some of the illustrations were animated through a line-tracing effect, making the landing page noticeably more appealing and delightful.
