Built in 1791. And you have NO idea what's behind these doors. 👀🏡

ONE WEEK into preparing this historic Beverly, NJ estate sale, and we've already uncovered more than we can count.

The former butler's quarters turned his-and-hers creative spaces. Endless yarn, fabrics, handmade treasures, vintage clothing, shoes, handbags, hats, and enough unfinished projects to keep you busy for another lifetime.

He made the wooden hat forms. She made the hats. And apparently, there wasn't a creative hobby they weren't willing to try. 🪡✨

We've sorted, uncovered, organized, and transformed an entire floor of possibilities.

And the wildest part?

We STILL have two bedrooms, a massive linen closet, another floor of living spaces, formal dining, and dining rooms, kitchen, and an entire basement waiting for us.

And trust us… every nook and cranny has a story.

This is only WEEK ONE.

Follow along as we uncover what's next. The best discoveries might still be hiding. 🤌

October 29th-31st

See you at the sale!

Estate Transition 101 | #02

“I'm sorry the house is such a mess.”

If I had a dollar for every time someone said this to me during a consultation... 😂

Here's something I wish more families knew:

You do NOT need to clean up before calling an estate sale company.

Don't organize the closets for us.

Don't clear out the basement.

Don't spend three weekends cleaning the garage.

And PLEASE don't start donating and throwing things away because you're embarrassed for us to see it.

We don't care about the mess.

Actually... that's where the magic happens.

We want to see the packed cabinets.

The garage shelves.

The boxes nobody has opened since 1998.

The random drawers.

The closets.

The everyday household stuff you assume nobody would ever buy.

Because we can't properly understand what's there—or what your options are—after half of it is already gone.

Your job?

Take what matters to you.

Family photos. Important documents. Sentimental pieces. Things you're taking with you. Things the family wants.

Post-it. Label it. Protect it.

Then leave us the mess.

That's literally what we're there for.

So if you've been thinking:

“I'd be mortified to have someone come in here right now...”

I promise you...

We've seen worse. 😂

And sometimes the houses that feel the most overwhelming are exactly the ones where we can help the most.

Look who made Good Morning America. 👀

ESTATE SALES.

Apparently the rest of the world is discovering what all of you already knew. 😂

The thrill of the hunt, the things you absolutely did not need but somehow couldn't leave without, and finding something incredible that already has a story.

But there's another side of this that I love seeing talked about:

There really IS a buyer for so many of the things families assume nobody wants.

Before you throw it away… you might want to ask an estate sale shopper. 😉

America, Welcome to the Estate Social Club. We’ve been waiting for you.

Estate Transition 101 | #01 ✏️

Start with what you're KEEPING—not what you're getting rid of.

It sounds backwards, but this is one of the first things I tell families.

When you're downsizing, settling an estate, or preparing a longtime home for sale, the instinct is usually to start here:

What can we get rid of?

--- Stop.

Instead Start with:

What matters to us?

Family photos.

Important documents.

Sentimental pieces.

The furniture going to the new home.

The things the kids actually want.

Grab the Post-it Notes. Label those things.

You can even label things with a ? If you aren't sure.
But, the important part is to label them and get them out of the equation.

Stop Again.

You don't need to decide the fate of everything else yet.

You don't need to know what's valuable

You don't need to start making donation runs.

And you definitely don't need to spend your Saturday answering 47 Facebook Marketplace messages about a $20 end table. 😂

Once you know what's staying, you can make a plan for everything that's left.

Some may be sold.

Some may be donated.

Some may go to auction.

Some collections may need an entirely different approach.

And some of the things you assumed nobody would want may surprise you.

Keeping first. Discarding second.

It's a small change in the order of operations

—but it can save an incredible amount of time, stress, regret and not to mention, money.

And after six years of doing this, it's probably the one thing i wish every family had heard before they started.

And before you start deciding what happens to everything else,

This is a really good time to make a few phone calls.

An estate sale company shouldn't be the last call you make once you've already emptied half the house.

Call early.

Ask questions.

Learn what your options are.

A reputable company should be able to walk through the home with you, explain what may be sellable, what might be better suited for auction or another sales channel, what can eventually be donated, and whether an estate sale even makes sense for your situation.

You may decide an estate sale isn't the right solution at all—and that's okay.

The important part is knowing your options before you start eliminating them.

That's lesson #1.

Introducing: Estate Transition 101 🏡

After six years of walking through hundreds of homes, I've realized there are a LOT of things families don't know before downsizing, settling an estate, moving, or preparing a longtime home for sale.

And why would you?

Most people only go through something like this a few times in their entire lives.

We do it every day.

I've heard:

"I was going to throw that away."

"None of my kids want any of this."

"We've already donated everything."

"The house closes in three weeks."

And probably my most common:

"I have absolutely no idea where to start."

So I'm starting Estate Transition 101 — little lessons, things I've learned, common mistakes, surprising value, and the advice I wish every family knew before they started emptying a home.

No giant checklist.

No judgment.

Just six years of "I really wish someone had told us this sooner."

First lesson coming up. ❤️
