Most GBP suspensions happen for very avoidable reasons. Here are the top culprits — including one you probably haven't heard before:
✅ 1. Business Name Violations
Adding keywords to your business name (“Smith Plumbing - Best Water Heater Repairs in Dallas”) can get you flagged fast.
✅ 2. Address Problems
Using a P.O. Box, UPS store, virtual office, or claiming an address where you don't have real signage or in-person staff can trigger suspension.
✅ 3. Suspicious Account Activity
If someone managing your GBP gets their Google account blacklisted (for spam, fake reviews, or shady behavior), your listing can get suspended by association.
✅ 4. Major Info Changes Without Verification
Changing your business name, location, or categories too often without going through proper re-verification raises red flags.
✅ 5. Being in a “High-Risk” Industry
Some industries (like locksmiths, legal, rehab centers, and pest control) are under extra scrutiny because of widespread abuse — even if you are 100% legit.
If you ever get suspended:
👉 Stop.
👉 Audit your listing carefully.
👉 Fix everything before appealing.
👉 Gather proof (license, utility bill, signage photos, insurance, etc.).
👉 Submit a professional reinstatement request — and be patient.
Pro tip: Always keep backups of your documents — because you won’t always know when you’ll need them.
