Thanks to Tony Diehl for the invite to Denim Coffee’s VIP grand opening of their new downtown Harrisburg location!

Great coffee, a cool space, and another advocate of customer experience marketing!

In a world of endless content, the brands that win aren't the ones posting the most, they're the ones people can't stop talking about!

The Savannah Bananas have built one of the most talked-about fan experiences in sports by committing completely to the customer experience. Owner Jesse Cole said it best:

"We believed if we could just create a show that was special, once people saw it, once they felt it, they would tell everyone."

That single idea cuts through everything we know about modern marketing. Impressions are cheap. Genuine connection is priceless.

In an era of mass communications and social media, the brands that earn real loyalty are the ones creating experiences worth talking about. They don't chase exposure, they earn it through fans who can't help but share what they felt.

Amazing experiences are remembered and shared. Average ones are forgotten and scrolled right past.

That's the thinking that drives everything I do at Ethos. In a noisy world, the most powerful thing a brand can do is make people feel something worth sharing.

“Hey Bill, what is it that you actually do?”
Three recent examples:

1. Strategy and brand refresh for medical practice.
2. Client appreciation event for a financial advisory group.
3. Advisory consulting for a real estate broker.

"Being noticed is not the same as being valued."

Anyone can get attention. A loud ad. A viral moment. A billboard in the right spot at the right time.

But attention fades. What stays is the impression you leave. the feeling someone gets when they interact with your brand, read your words, or walk through your door.

Valued means they remember why they chose you. Valued means they come back. Valued means they tell someone else.

That's the difference between marketing that chases eyeballs and marketing that builds something special. One is a spike on a graph. The other is a reputation.

After 25 years in this business, I've seen a lot of brands get noticed. The ones that last? They focused on being worth remembering.

That's what I help people build.

"An embarrassing typo and a Lesson Worth Sharing."

Typos happen. But when it's in a printed brochure representing an entire state's tourism efforts, it becomes a very expensive reminder of why smart proofreading matters.

Fresh eyes matter at every stage of a project.

I have a simple rule: once you've read something, you're no longer a reliable proofreader for it. Your brain already knows what it's supposed to say, so that's exactly what it sees, even when the words on the page say something different.

I bring in a new set of eyes after every meaningful revision.

I've been embarrassed by a proof-reading mistake, so now I have a smart process to keep it from happening to a client.

Have you ever caught a typo after something was already printed or published?

Pennsylvania's tourism brochure has a major error ahead of America 250 events.

"I've watched good money chase bad ideas, because nobody in the room had seen it fail before."

When you're a small business owner, ideas come at you from every direction. Your cousin thinks you should run Facebook ads. A vendor wants to sell you a sponsorship. Someone tells you need to redesign your website. A competitor just launched something new and now you're second-guessing everything.

The real challenge isn't finding ideas, it's knowing which ones are worth your time and money.

That's where I come in.

With over 30 years in marketing and 25 years consulting small businesses, I've seen what works and what doesn't. I've watched businesses spend thousands on advertising before their brand was ready for it. I've seen beautiful websites that nobody could find. I've watched good money chase bad ideas because nobody in the room had seen it fail before.

I have.

My job is to be that experienced voice in your corner, helping you say yes to the right things and no to the costly ones before they do damage. Not every business needs to be on every platform. Not every trend deserves your budget. Not every shiny opportunity is as good as it looks.

Why struggle through those decisions alone when you can have a seasoned marketing and communications expert on retainer, helping you move confidently, spend wisely, and build something great?

That's exactly what Ethos Marketing is here for.

Curious what’s worth doing and what’s not? Let’s have a conversation.

If you have a great plan, but communicate it poorly, you don’t have a great plan anymore.

Active advocacy isn't bought, it's earned. And it has less to do with what you sell than how you make people feel!

Yes, I offer design work, branding, and photography. But that work is informed by strategy and planning, the foundation that makes all of the work more compelling and effective. Watch to learn more.

On my way to Habitat for Humanity to drop off a piece of my photography artwork for their yearly, Art Builds Homes, charity art auction.
