I have a persimmon tree in my back yard. My son and I harvested it this year and he started a persimmon stand. He sold all of our fruit and we asked somebody else if we could get some persimmons and got some more. We found some pomegranates and lemons along the way too. We discovered this fall that the fruit planted around this town has value and should be harvested and used. This page is about fi

nding ways to use it and getting value from it. We were able to get 3 other 14 year old boys involved in our sales project. They all earned spending money by picking and marketing their fruit. All of the proceeds have gone to 4 teenage boys, as of this writing a little over $400 in total. I have made some chutney and the shrub syrups you see pictured. Really delicious additions to my fridge. We are looking for donated fruit to make more shrubs and chutneys. We will bring you some if you donate fruit!

Today we delivered some lemon shrub to supporters who donated fruit last year. If you weren't home we left it for you on your front porch. Shrub is a syrup made from fruit and vinegar and sugar. Mix a couple ounces into a tumbler of ice and sparkiling or clear water. Add rum or vodka if you want.
