Helper!!! Are you getting excited for the Helper Arts Festival this weekend?! Helper Engine is excited to present a storytelling event hosted by Helper’s own Poet Laureate, Olivia Dudding-Rodriguez! Swing by the The Rio from 3-5pm on Friday to hear tall tales (…well, mostly true tales!…) from small towns.

🚂 Help us make history in Helper!

This Saturday, the Helper Museum is hosting the Helper Locomotive Car Show to raise funds to bring a historic steam locomotive home to Helper. This will create a lasting attraction that celebrates our railroad heritage for generations to come.

Bring the family, check out an incredible lineup of classic vehicles, enjoy some music and great food from Ruben's BBQ, Parra's Hot Dogs, and Cold Stone Creamery, and support a project that will leave a lasting legacy for our community.

Calling all local amateur and aspiring artists! Be a part of the first ever COMMUNITY BOOTH at the Helper Arts Festival, brought to you by all of us at Helper Engine!

This year, with the help of Helper Engine , we're making it easier than ever for local amateur, emerging and aspiring artists to show and sell their work at the festival!

If you don't have enough work to fill a full 10'x10' artist vendor booth, or can't afford the $250 vendor booth fee, you can join the Community Booth for a $50 entry fee - just fill out this google form to apply:

We are so excited to announce a call for stories and storytellers for a storytelling show that will be hosted by Helper’s incredible Poet Laureate, Olivia Dudding Rodreguiz! The show, themed Small Town, Tall Tales, will take place at the Helper Arts Festival on Friday, August 21 from 2-5pm at the The Rio Theatre!

Submit a story at one of two ‘pitch nights’ or through the link in the comments. Olivia will provide guidance on the art of storytelling and will help prep select stories for the show during the arts festival.

We can’t wait to see what small town stories locals choose to share 🙂

Hello, Helper! Helper Engine has been busy ramping up and getting our feet under us as an organization! We have some exciting things in the works and will be sharing a few of them over the next few weeks!

For our first bit of news—we have subscribed to a volunteer coordination app that can be used by any organizations in the community….and it’s called Helper Helper! (How fitting is that name?! 🤩)

This app will allow locals to easily see when volunteers are needed for various events! They can sign up directly through the app or reach out to the volunteer coordinator for the specific event with questions.

How can this app be used?
-To find a volunteer base for your events, (whether they are community clean-up days, fun community gatherings, local board memberships, etc.)
-To find ways to get involved! Helper has an beautifully motivated volunteer-base, and this makes it easy to spread the word about volunteer opportunities 🙂
-To provide reports on volunteer hours (—> having ‘in-kind’ donations through volunteerism can increase grant opportunities that local organizations can apply for!)
-…and more!
