The research is clear. Brands have the potential to have a huge impact.

Employees want to work for a company that is having a positive impact on the world. Consumers purchasing decisions are impacted by a brand's values and ethical corporate practices. Employees and consumers believe businesses are not doing enough to show they care about having a positive impact.

Interested in learning ways your company can expand & amplify its campaigns?

Join Steph & Alana on Wednesday, March 1st for their new series "Missed Opportunities for Good" where we'll discuss why it's important for a company to do good, what that looks like, and missed opportunities that can be capitalized on to have maximum social impact.

"...if I'm the people's champ, I don't need a trophy for championing people." - Lizzo

Lizzo IS the People's Champion. No other celebrity has ever done this when accepting an award and we can only hope this is the new standard:

"I'm here tonight because to be an icon is about how long you have had your platform. Being an icon is what you do with that platform."

When Lizzo accepted her People's Choice Awards last week, she reminded us of why she is the greatest musician, activist, and humanitarian. Lizzo has and will always use her platform to amplify marginalized voices. If you haven't seen the clip yet, please watch as Lizzo uses her platform for GOOD and shares the spotlight to showcase the people doing the hard and heart work:

- Jayla Rose, making space for transgender and non-binary performers in the dance community. Jayla is also one of Lizzo's big girls which is just delightful
- Kara Roselle Smith, a writer, model, and member of the Chappaquiddick Wampanoag tribe, seeking justice for Black and Indigenous communities fighting for land and reparations
- Maggie Mireles and her sister Eva Mireles, Eva lost her life protecting her students during the tragic Uvalde school shooting and Maggie continues her legacy as she fights against gun violence and for better gun laws
- Amelia Bonow, co-founder of Shout Your Abortion https://shoutyourabortion.com/
- Odilia Romero, advocate and translator for the Indigenous people from Mexico and Central America https://mycielo.org/

And our heart, too. We are so excited and honored to be working with the brilliantly talented Samara Bay on her book launch in partnership with DemocraShe, a free leadership program that trains future leaders to use their voice for good. Link in our bio to learn more about the book, , and how you can help change what power sounds like for generations to come:

“Grab some swag and change the story!! 'Cuz here's what's up: Girls and women, q***r folks, anyone with an accent that codes for race or class or not-from-around-here—too many of us wish we sounded more powerful, or that we didn’t have to try so hard to get taken seriously.

It’s BEYOND time to change the story and bust that shame.

For us, for our friends, for the rising leaders dreaming of a better world.

So I’m thrilled and honored to partner with the brilliant and hope-fueled org DemocraShe throughout the Permission to Speak launch.

Scroll down to learn more about DemocraShe, see the super exciting merch we're releasing, and check out the latest tour dates!

The book is out February 7, 2023. More coming soon...” -

A message from our friends at Color Of Change:

"After the tragic killing of George Floyd, General Motors and Ford Motor Company were amongst the FIRST corporations to issue statements of support for and the fight for racial justice. But since 2016, GM and Ford have spent almost $444k on driving a Jim Crow–style voter suppression effort in Michigan, making it harder for Black and working-class voters to cast their ballots and have a say in their democracy.

Join Color Of Change, Community Change Action, and the Michigan Defend Black Voters Coalition in demanding that these corporations put their money where their mouths are and stop funding voter suppression! SIGN THE PETITION:

and committed to the fight against racial injustice, yet continue to bankroll politicians suppressing the Black vote in Michigan.

We love seeing these sweet candy brands giving back, and using creative packaging to support a cause. These are home runs for us, especially since the message so clearly aligns with the nonprofits each brand supports. A strong, clear, transparent call-to-action makes all the difference.

🌈 The rainbow never tasted SO GOOD. Skittles pulled off a delicious partnership for Pride, where for every LGBTQIA+ artist designed pack of candy purchased, $1 was donated by Mars Wrigley to glaad. “We’re giving up our rainbow to celebrate the one that matters.”

🎶 Kit Kat, Target and Memphis Music Initiative partnered to elevate Black voices and the next generation of Memphis musicians in a new campaign called “The Beat of the Future.” MMI received an undisclosed amount of a grant from Hershey’s to help continue its mission to cultivate a thriving arts and culture ecosystem in Memphis.

🦸🏾‍♀️“There is no Hershey’s without SHE.” What started as a Women’s History Month promotion has now become a celebration of women and their contributions and giving a leg up to young women and girls. The company donated $150,000 to Girls on the Run and $100,000 UN’s Girl Up initiative.

Happy Earth Day! Exciting to see how companies like are stepping up their sustainability game. With Nike’s new ‘One Box,’ the company is one step closer to “Move to Zero” the company’s ambitious zero carbon, zero waste goal. This box eliminates an additional shipping box, while taking into consideration understated exterior design to keep shoes safe from potential theft, tape-free returns, and even reducing water usage for printing. We all have a part to play to save the planet and while the One Box won’t replace all existing shoe boxes (yet), it’s a GREAT start. Other Nike sustainability initiatives include:

🌎 Reuse-A-Shoe: Help reduce waste by cleaning & donating or recycling worn athletic shoes
🌎 Refurbished: purchase gently used shoes at a lower price
🌎 Other 2025 targets:
👟 70% decrease in greenhouse gas emissions through 100% renewable energy
👟 100% waste diverted from landfill in extended supply chain
👟 13 Billion liters of water restored

And in the meantime, maybe Nike could offset their current shipping usage by donating to an environmental organization or planting trees. Which nonprofit would you like to see Nike donate to?
