She did it! Jasmin Paris finished the Barkley Marathons, becoming the first woman in history. It was improbable. It was by 99 seconds and one of the greatest finishes in history.

Most thought it wasn’t possible given her time into the Fire Tower but she never gave up. There wasn’t a dry eye.

Jasmin Paris is through the Tower, moving fast down Rat Jaw!

It’s going to be close but it is the Barkley. Barkley is tough but so are the runners who survive to the final loop, having already run the equivalent of up and down Mt. Everest twice in frequently treacherous terrain. Jasmine is as tough as they come.

British Athlete Jasmin Paris made history this morning, becoming the first woman in history to begin the fifth loop at the famous Barkley Marathons in Frozen Head State Park, Tennessee.

In its 38 years, the Barkley Marathons has seen thousands begin its route, but only 17 athletes have finished the race. No woman has ever made it to the fifth and final loop until now.

Previous female athletes to achieve ‘fun run’ status include Suzi Thibeault (1991, 1994), Nancy Hamilton (1991, 1993), Sue Johnstone (2000, 2001) and Beverley Anderson Abbs (2012, 2013).
