Every year, we book a trip somewhere for about a month. Earlier this year, we spent a month in London, Spain, and Greece. Last year we were in Costa Rica. This February, we are headed back to Costa Rica. 🌴✈️
Here’s a little behind-the-scenes on how I keep my content rolling for my clients while soaking up beach time with the family for 2+ weeks. It may take me extra time... but it’s worth it to unplug for vacations!
🗓️ 1. Plan Ahead
I start by looking at the calendar and mapping out the days I’ll be away. Then, I plan my content around those dates, making sure there’s a seamless flow of posts. The key is to make sure I also include the week of content when I return home because we all know it takes a while to get back into a groove when you return from a vacation.
🛠️ 2. Batch Creation
About a month before leaving, I dedicate a few days to creating all the content and copy. This includes writing posts, curating images, creating graphics, and scheduling everything. Apps like Canva and Later become my best friends!
🔁 3. Automate and Schedule
Everything gets scheduled using tools like Hootsuite or Later. This way, my digital presence keeps buzzing while I’m offline.
✉️ 4. Prepare for Engagement
I might not always be online, but I prepare engaging questions or calls to action that keep the interaction alive. I check in once every few days to respond to comments and messages.
📁 5. Save All Content into Your Google Folder
Last but not least, make sure to save all of your content in a Google folder. Even if you have set up everything to auto-post on a third-party app (Hootsuite/Later), the worst is having to jump into Canva to download a file or recreate a post while on vacation. If something doesn’t post correctly, you’ll have all your work in an organized file that is easy to access.
Heading off-grid doesn’t mean going silent. With a little preparation, I can enjoy my vacation and keep the digital wheels turning. Who else loves the peace of mind that comes with pre-scheduled content? 🙋🏽♀️
